Yep, Pauls bike, he's going to get it sorted himself, I'm fed up fixing my own stuff.

I have always adored the first generation ZX10R. I'd still be a bit dubious about riding one quickly if it didn't have a steering damper but then I'm no Kevin Schwantz. I also love those Two Brothers end cans with the patterned carbon fibre.

Did it do its Cat. in ...?

Seriously, I feel for you, whatever , I feel very lucky to have had the RSV4 experience for 2.5 years, without suffering any issues, I felt that that was enough and moved on... best of luck with repair.

Cheesy valves... repair not happening, I put every penny into the bike only to have it go pop 500 miles later. Can't afford the repair. Being broken for parts...

I went out on my blade Sunday. I really, really, really enjoyed it. I was going to sell it get something else I'm not now.
This time next week I'll hate it again and want to sell it.

That is not great news at all, i bet you are gutted ( i would be)

I hope you get some of your loss back.

As you say stick to Jap IL4's

Can't you go back to Aprillia and question the failure? Surely this shouldn't happen and they may cover some of the repair?

Marko - seriously , that is the worst possible luck , commiserations..... as for trying Aprilia for some form of recompense, try pushing a fast flowing river uphill with a toothless fork , there will be no form of any warranty implied or given with regard to a failure of that type on a used bike ( private sale wasn't it?) way out of warranty , If i remember the age of this one correctly....
Best of luck with the parting sales.

I did fear this would be the case, but i thought it may be worth a try....i had a mate who's car blew up way out of warranty and the manufacturer did offer to pay half of the bill. I guess with bikes and being Aprillia this won't be the same.

8 year old bike... 15000 miles... modified. Absolutely no chance. The only silver lining is that I paid trade value for the bike so IF everything sells at the price I think it will, I'll only be about £500 out of pocket.

I went for a run on my old bike, as not the new one covered in ventureshield yet. It was perfection, no idea why I've bought the new one now.

Absolutely gutted for you mate, its the time & the effort as well as the money side of it that all hurts ...I hope you get it all sold swiftly enough and get back on the road again as soon as.

Quality afternoon with my Dad today, we finally managed to finally refit his refurbed Bantam wheels back in the bike, a couple of the parts we bought from (apparently) reputable brit bike suppliers didnt fit and caused a lot of heartache , more money getting them to fit and much going to and forth and all the delay that caused....we was also borrowing a friends bench for a "few weeks"...

The "recommended" tyre didnt fit in the front mudguard, so had to be changed, every day is a learning day but with a new to me British bike and Dad forgetting some of what he had learned from back in the day, it was even more so....we now have some Whitworth spanners thou!

The wheels we had done as the chrome was falling off and the hubs turning to powder, seeing as the rest of the bike had been restored they was an eyesore, with everything refinished now inc new rims, spokes , sprocket, cables etc it looks very posh.

I was astonished when it fired first kick with some fresh fuel in it after a 7 month lay up, Dad was stoked to get it home as I was.

It really sucks, but there are people with worse problems. I could have crashed and crippled myself. I have my health and I'll have another bike. If nothing else I'm getting pretty good at breaking bikes, that's the second Aprilia I've broken and sold in bits in 6 months!
