Thanks...Its not running as well as it should at the moment so shes not making all the power it should, all the time, due a trip to the dyno in a few weeks for some diagnostic work and set up.
Its remarknly torquey for a 500 stroke TBH and it quite happy between 3-6k pootling about and when I it did run as well as Yamaha intended briefly, it certainly went very well but the power delivery and gearing really do stop it from being a wheelie bike, I aim to down gear it slightly when its all sweet.
The LC is certainly far better for dicking around on and doing wheelies, I think its the combination of seating position, gearing and power delivery.
My KR1 sounds similar to your RS250, it just drives forward rather than lift the wheel..also likes to dance over rougher roads at speed..TBH of all my bikes, the KR is the most intense and focused bike and makes you ride like a total cock..especially when your out with a mate on his 250 at the same time..
Whereabouts in the UK are you mate?
I am in Derbyshire/ notts border. Thanks for the response, interesting to read, if you where a bit closer I would have a ride out with you on the old rs Its remarknly torquey for a 500 stroke TBH and it quite happy between 3-6k pootling about and when I it did run as well as Yamaha intended briefly, it certainly went very well but the power delivery and gearing really do stop it from being a wheelie bike, I aim to down gear it slightly when its all sweet.

Does your shake it´s head like a madman when you take your hands off the bars??Mine (I had back in 89-91) used to do that - first time gave me the willy´s!!
Fkin loved that bike but traded it in for a brand new Gixxer 750M in feb 91 - of course I wish I still had both!!!
Earlier this year he asked me to try his bike saying that the bars shook at the slightest, sure enough, after slowing diwn from speed, his bike shakes its head, not for very long but its violent enough to get your full attention and your ass clenching.
My bike is fine in that respect.
I suspect his rear shock(his bike sits lower than mine) and/ or his ME33 tyres...which must be ancient.
I also had a 750 M in 1991, would love that bike back too.

I know from reading some roadtests of the time some write ups suggested stability was marginal and my 500 owning neighbour has one of those unstable bikes!

Mine only shook when taking hands of the bars for a few secs - it wasn´t immediate but it would deteriorate into a right slapper if you didn´t grab the bars PDQ...!! Other than that when holding them no probs at all other than the usual flighty response
Enjoy it - I´d love to get my hands on another
Took the old girl out today and drained a tank to keep her in good health. She now has 4400 miles, and is already 15 years old. Only as much power as a GS, but is just such a delight - thunderous when you open her taps, and just terrific to enjoy her hewn-from-granite quality and old skool superbike chassis. Long, low, and just so fast as you roll her between apexes. Great day.

That is absolutely beautiful! You can never sell that - prices are going up! I rode one for about a year back in 2002 a castrol sp1 but with a pc to sort the snatchy fueling and it was sublime. It's the only Honda road bike I've ever ridden and thought... Wow

Thanks - certainly no plans to sell her as it was the first sportsbike that got me hooked on the idea of 'I must learn to ride a bike'. The SP2 was the SP1 with the many HRC mods that enabled Colin to beat Troy at Imola for Honda's victory over Ducati. One of the best ever, ranks up there with 2009 Rossi/JL at Catalunya.
