Took the old girl out today and drained a tank to keep her in good health. She now has 4400 miles, and is already 15 years old. Only as much power as a GS, but is just such a delight - thunderous when you open her taps, and just terrific to enjoy her hewn-from-granite quality and old skool superbike chassis. Long, low, and just so fast as you roll her between apexes. Great day.

That is absolutely beautiful! You can never sell that - prices are going up!

I rode one for about a year back in 2002 a castrol sp1 but with a pc to sort the snatchy fueling and it was sublime. It's the only Honda road bike I've ever ridden and thought... Wow
Wot he said. cool That's gorgeous!! proper future investment.
Thanks - certainly no plans to sell her as it was the first sportsbike that got me hooked on the idea of 'I must learn to ride a bike'. The SP2 was the SP1 with the many HRC mods that enabled Colin to beat Troy at Imola for Honda's victory over Ducati. One of the best ever, ranks up there with 2009 Rossi/JL at Catalunya.

That looks amazing!

Was about to say the same I had a 99 but in the crappest colours possible the grey and darker grey with orange stripes - beggars could not be choosers as a mate of a mate was selling it for a good price in 2005 after my GSXR600 went on perm unauthorised holiday frown
Lovely bike save for it jumping out of 2nd too regularly and a faulty coil pack causing a 14k misfire on that cylinder (which I did get sorted out eventually) i.e. acted like a nice speed limiter when going for it

those were the days when you could give the kids a couple of quid or some sweets and they was happy to polish it now you get nicked as a pedo for offering the kids some sweet money .

Actually, they did a good job, and were very careful to remember what Daddy told them about putting the sponge in the bucket, or on the thing they were cleaning and nowhere else!

My boy is busting to get on the back of my bikes.

Bigger/faster doesn't always mean better!

Bought this from an old fella nearby. 1993 bike with 23k miles. Standard apart from the end can, which sounds glorious.

Lovely, lovely little bike.

Ah southbourne, I hope you ventured further afield and let the bike stretch its legs on some decent roads!
