Nice work Podman, I think that's a perfectly reasonable amount of money for the work you've done. There's always going to be some tight arse who thinks it's too much, they just ain't your target market.

Good effort. smile

6.5 hours @ £20 per hour plus £20 in materials would be reasonable, so BN is bang on the money.
Thank you, I know you make a living at this so really appreciate the feedback.

At £150 a clean I'd consider leaving it a few years then trading it in for a new one before the arse rots out of it...
Agreed, its really something to do when you get a new bike , end of the year lay up or pre-sale.

That is amazing work Podman, do you do a mobile service?

Can you please list the products you use as the stuff i use never gets my bike that clean. Also how do you get in all the small areas without skinning your knuckles.

I am pissed off as i went out a couple of weeks back, glorious sunshine mid 20's and then the heavens opened. The bike is a mess after being on wet fen roads, there are some areas i just can't get at!
I feel your pain there mate.

A mobile service, depending on distance of course if a distinct possibility, it would cost more of course but would work well for me, if the owner took the fairings off prior to cleaning, I could do an even better job, that would be my preference in all honesty.
Its not so much the products I use as knowing what to use where and how, I used to sell industrial cleaning chemicals and products , consulted on the cleaning of anything from the floors at Royal premises, high end hotels/property, shopping centres and transport, literally put programmes in place for cleaning everything from a jet to a cross channel ferry.
Often what worked in one area didn’t in another, for example, I witnessed someone clean a stone floor which in part had gone very well but he hit another area which was a soft stone which proceeded to fizz and melt in front of him and watched another gentleman strip the gold plate off some ornate taps …

To put that into bike perspective, what I would use on the (cast) engine block of your K7 would most likely stain and mark the machined finish of your bikes sump, so id take extra care & take two different approaches to bring up the different finishes.

I can tell you MucOff is a waste of money, Gunk is the best degreaser ive found, brake cleaners are all pretty much the same but if you buy them in an aerosol form, the cheaper products have poor spray nozzles and waste the product within, often dribbling it down your fingers..

PM me mate.

Cheers…Your spot on there I think Ryan.

I would make sure you have public liability insurance and walk around the bike with the owner checking for scuffs and suck like.

Also buy a bat to smash their fingers to bits if they refuse to pay, the country is awash with wkers. Apart from that it seems like a good idea.
That’s a very good point John…….will have to factor that in…and get a pet bat!biggrin

Fitted my Firestorm cans yesterday, I always said it should be law that V Twins have a set of aftermarket cans on them, secondhand buy from a VTR forum member but I had the link pipes vapour blasted some time ago and polished the cans up the best I could.

Going for a blat on it later, cant wait to hear what it sounds like at full chat..

Link pipes before and after.

I stuck a set of Harpoons on my first TRX. I had to start the bike parallel to the garage doors as it would make them rattle like hell from 12 feet away

People certainly knew you was on your way

Not been out on the bike for a while due to travel. Absolutely chucking it down when I woke up this morning, left the road-bike and took the Husky out instead.

The local Ducati dealer had an open day, I went with the intention of trying a Scrambler (fun, but not comfy with the exhaust position and gear shifter) and ended up spending half an hour falling in love with a Multistrada 1200. My TDM felt very leaden and slow on the way home but the view was good at least

Got to be worth £150 for a days work.

Snot worth getting out of bed otherwise.
Thats in line with what I was thinking, these "all year biker" types dont put that much effort in from what ive seen but they do chuck some ACF50 over it .

Anyone use AYB and care to comment on the + and - of their service and cost?
I had a very grubby ZX6R done by AYB 5 years ago and from memory cost £130, very pleased with the work and as I use my bike all year round it was in a state, will see if I can find some photos I took

Asked the same fella to clean my CBR over the last Xmas period but he never got back to me, he replied saying to book with him, confirmed I wanted it done but never heard from him again??

My new toy ( the ramp) . Going to whip the body work off this old gal later just to give it a clean and check over. Never before would I entertain such a stupid idea if it involved bending down, which it now doesn't :-)

1hr later after 4 cans of piss water, fairings/ radiator and exhausts off ready to check pv's and clean drink

Looks so much better in the flesh than all of the marketing images I've seen of the R.

Did you also ride the RS? If so, how does it compare?
