I've been bikeless for two months now and the itch was set off something rotten when I fired my Dad's Thruxton R up in his garage. Can't beat the noise, vibration and excitement even after the (very borrowed) car I turned up in.

I like your Dad's taste in bikes...and your car hire!

Got the SP serviced at Moto Rapido in Winchester yesterday. Really great spot - the team are ace. Had to buy parts - had service - and the sales guy let me out on this for an hour or so...

I don't really do "sports" bikes but it was a peach to ride - planted, fast enough, went where it was pointed. Was a good laugh but, my gonads did it get hot - I can only imagine the panigale is worse, which can't be good for reproduction. Anyway. If you are after a Duc and down this way I would recommend these guys without blinking.

ETA: the mirrors are pish and riding it - though fun - made me really appreciate the SP overall!

So it hasn't taken long to get to the 500 mile service (well the garage is 30 miles away) so I had better get it booked in.

Unfortunately I'm pretty busy, so it's going to be a few weeks. The tt600 might be coming out again.

Looks like a total one off build or a factory bike,
Either way, let us know!

Its Rossi's test bike disguised as a GSX-R 750. The rider has impeccable taste if he's a Rossi fan.

It's a GSXR750 engine in a very modified 600 frame. Lots and lots of Moto2 stuff on it from a Moto2 technician.

It's a work of art

That looks brilliant. Assume the fairings are custom jobs?

As is most of the rest of it. It's just gorgeous. I was out with Gino Rea on his Moto2 bike a few years ago and this pisses all over it for aesthetics and finishing touches.

I think that looks brilliant! Great engine those 750s too. Keep them standard and they are reliable but still got a good amount of poke

Good first bike, easy to ride but enough power for you not to get bored too quickly, I've recently bought an older version, really is a great little bike.

Not just cleaned but rebuilt and bench flow tested....twice...everything else is all set up as the book (YPVS, oil pump, throttle adj etc, new air filter, a new fuel tap, new fuel lines, tank is rust free), sometimes it will go as it should, and others (most of the time now) its "normal" to a certain point, always starts first /second kick, motor sounds great... but then goes flat as it should make power, its either fuel starvation or something electrical , almost feels like the power valves are not opening....I cant make my mind up which it may be now, possibly it has both issues...!

I can bimble around on it with no bother but after Sundays run out, it got really frustrating, its now off to be investigated by Krazy Kat dyno & then , hopefully, he will set it up straight after, hence removing the bodywork.

Im pretty sure its something simple but its beyond what I can diagnose/rectify now.

Gutted as on Saturday I was hoping to take it to the RD500 meet in Stratford upon Avon but I dont want to risk causing it some serious damage..
Did you get it sorted?
Hello mate, it only went to Krazy Kat on Saturday and he hasnt started on it as yet, I did tell him no rush so I dont expect to see it for a few weeks .. Currently enjoying the extra garage space!

Ill post back when I have the diagnosis.
OK.......the crank seals are goosed, it made 65HP on the first dyno run (stock is 70-75RWHP) , then as it warmed up dropped to low 50s...so i have a 50HP RD500...The "intermintent" nature is due to the fact when the bike was cold/left for a while, the seals could seal to a certain extent and do there job for a little while but as the bike warms, they are failing.

I knew the bike had been standing for a long time with a low mileage and their was a likelihood problems could arise but hey ho, James will put it right and set it all up to be strong motor, some bills to come but at least the flipping wedding bill is out of the way!
