Gave the bike a service and clean up on Saturday. It always scrubs up well. I've owned it for over 7 years now, and given the cost to change to a new model, I suspect I'll be keeping it for a bit longer!
I have to admire you for keeping it that clean and owning that long but I would be so bored of owning the same bike that long. I get the price thing though - eye watering how much some are now Birky_41 said:

I was a serial changer in the 90's and early 2000's. Changed at least once a year. Then, just decided to stick with one for a bit, which was a K5 1000. Had that for almost 4 years. Then bought the K7. Having had Fireblades, RSV-R's, Hayabusa, SP-1, ZXR750 and more, the K7 is the best of the bunch. In reality, I'm not going to go any quicker on a current 1000 than I do on the K7, so not much point in changing. Birky_41 said:

Once you buy the right bike you don't need to keep replacing it every couple of years MattOz said:

I too have owned my old shed for the same time as Matt has owned his K7. I am struggling to warrant selling mine and adding in c£10 or 12k to get onto a new whizzbang electronic superbike.I still have a thing about owning a GSXR 1000 though as they are so accommodating for us tubbies.

I change mine more due to wear than time but the two go hand in hand. 20,000-25,000 miles is what I'll do in 3 years and I tend to find they are tired and needing loving so I just chop them in for a new one
Far enough, by the time I sold my previous bike I'd replaced the suspension, exhaust, piston rings, valve stem seals, front calipers...RizzoTheRat said:

I've done the same. But slightly different scenarios, mainly due to me changing every 2 years or so max. I think now I'd only do it as an old bike project. My every day road bike I don't care enough for it to be going into that level of work but I think it's just due to time and me being grumpy with always working on the things Give you an idea this is my 1997 CR125. Bought as an £800 shed I built it from the ground up. It's like new and I'll keep it forever but the year and model meant alot to me hence doing it
I did the same on an RM250 and this year on a new hobby... Track days! But even my gsxr which I bought as a salvage and built up I'm already bored of! Lack of funds means I'll keep this another year max

I had a great tour around Ireland, the peninsula's around there are incredible but as mentioned above, lots of rain
After yesterday's stunning sunfilled day, it was properly grim this morning with driving rain - to the left is the Atlantic Ocean below the cliffs...But it started to clear up and the Emerald Isle proved to have some of the most beautiful and lush roads, especially around the Ring of Beara -
Then wondering up through the Ballaghbeama Gap in Bridia Valley -

Bit late for a post in this thread as I picked up the new beastie nearly 4 weeks ago now. 100 miles left before the running in service is due.
Great bike these and handle brilliant. A good mate of mine had his for 3 years on a PCP and just px'd for a Duke 1200S to try something different. He's not gelling with it quite yet as its nothing like the Trumpy in the bendsspareparts said:

Here is the self billed "best view in Ireland" (or something similar I can't remember exactly.)
I can't remember which Valley this is either but some of the views and scenery are stunning.
