My flip front C3 at 70mph is about as noisy as my previous full face Raid was at about 50mph.
Do you find that using the chin sock thingy makes a big difference? It does for me.

I used to like flip fronts for the ease of putting them on & off etc. Now I just ride in an open face lid.

Dude, that helmet looks nuts. It wouldn't look out of place in a German sex video on top of some guy wearing a rubber suit.

Shoei do a separate next certain for their lids but I've never tried one. Turbulance under the lid is supposed to be a big noise producer so they should make a big difference, and I think the Schuberth fits a lot closer to my neck than the Shoei did whcih probably makes a difference. My C3 came with a triangular bit that velcros in under the chin piece but I think my chin's too big as I can't get the front shut if it's fitted biggrin

Given how often I seem to have to wipe off massive bugs that splat to about an inch diameter, plus the couple of stone chips I have in my visor, I'm not particularly keen on open face lids biggrin.

I ride so slow the bugs splat on the back of my lid when I cut them up.

A think you're on the wrong thread, and I now need to reach for the mind bleach.

The thing I've found with the C3 is that the fit around the front of my face and around the chin is a lot closer than with a full face. It's logical I suppose that if the fit were that close on a FF, you wouldn't be able to get it over your head. The chin cloth thing when fitted on mine goes all the way up to the strap, so there isn't a gap into the helmet up to about where my adam's apple is. That I reckon is what makes it so quiet.

Cheers Castex.

Gorgeous Bikes is up the road from me but I've seen them on line too.

For anyone interested it is a Roof Desmo. About the same weight in feel as my Arai and since selling my Triumph and suddenly getting a Vespa 300, I use it as an open face far more.

As to those arguing about steering, I use my whole body and especially my feet. Shifting weight via your foot pegs helps with the fluidity of motion.

Hence I have to ride my Vespa with my feet sitting just on the edge of the foot boards not tucked up out of the wind in front of me biggrin

ETA The chin piece on the Desmo lifts up over and sits at the rear of the helmet, hence it isn't top heavy in open mode.

I bought a Roof Boxer years ago as I wanted to try the concept but when I got it I thought.......

Its heavy

Uncomfortable

When you flip the front up the whole helmet flexes in and out so has very little strength

It had no vents

I never used the helmet as I had no faith in it and I sold it. How would rate the Roof Desmo as I still like the concept but thought little of the actual Roof version. I'm used to Shoei and thought if Shoei made this it would be good!

I've got three flippers!

1) Original Roof Boxer in silver and black. Makes me look like a cool as fk stormtrooper but is but as a piece of riding equipment is gash: way too noisy, not very comfortable, visor so dark it is asking for a tug off the BiB. Only really wear it for nipping into town on sunny days. Visor aids surreptitious perving at skirt. C'mon, we've all done it!

2) A Scorpion EXO 900. Clicky here

Actually a really clever design because it has an integral sun visor, and the entire flip can be removed, converting it into an open facer with a sun visor. Only trouble is that sun visor isn't really dark enough to deal with low lying winter sun which I have to ride into for 20 miles on my commute, so it got pensioned off in favour of ...

3) A Givi X08. Best helmet I've ever owned. Light, well made, quiet, great sun visor, I love the flip for getting air in the summer on a hot ride/flipping up when filling up with fuel/chatting to mates at stops on tour etc.

Two other reasons for wearing a flipper are that I work on a large 'campus' type business site, I like to put my lid on in the office, walk to the bike, ride away without faffing. The flip allows me to remain recognisable to people that I pass on the way out, they can see it's me and have a bit of a chat if needed ... often do bit of internal networking on the 5 min walk to my bike.

Secondly I have a bigger than average schnozzer, so the flip means the visor isn't banging into my nose all day! I once had an Arai which I can only guess was modelled on a Pug!

I've got a girl rider mate who had a 30mph off with a car wearing a Shoei full face. From the way it smacked her face about I'm not sure the 'full faces offer much more protection' argument holds much water.

Elderly fat bd with an equally elderly Guzzi here.

I wear a flip front helmet with a built in sun visor, sold by Lidl.

It is comfy and I like it.

Job jobbed !

It's not as comfy as my Arai but it's a solid piece of kit. I nearly bought a Boxer but I read a lot of unfavourable reviews but many of it's short comings were dealt with on the Desmo.

My only criticisms would be with the chin bar down, it's a little too close to my mouth but I have got used to it and the visor change system is so complicated, involving some plastic tool which I have lost, so I'm stuck with the jet black visor even though I have a new clear somewhere biggrin

Draped over his pannier is what appears to be a wooden plaque with 'City Police' in brass letters, attached with white cable ties. Bizarre.
Looks like the sort of sh!t that caravanners hang over the door along with a beaded insect screen, while they freeze their tits off in a muddy field watching DVD boxed sets of Miss Marple and trying to justify the twenty-five grand they spunked on an aluminium-and-MDF roadblock.

Top tip. If you decide to change your speakers (because the original ones are frankly st) and then 7 months later the charging system fails, don't expect Schuberth to give a flying fk and honour the warranty despite the actual charging gubbins still being sealed.

hehe

I had the option of a white x-lite flipper. I refused it on the grounds that added to my R1200RT, I would like one of those tools that actually wants other road users to mistake them for the police. The Missus thought it looked fine but I held firm, saying it was a "biker thing, you wouldn't understand". Couple of days later she had cause to come into the city and I got text saying "I see what you mean about those white flip top helmets. What a bunch of wallys."

biggrin
