I'm not going to say how, but next time you watch a wet race if you listen you can hear that the engines don't sound quite right but as they start to get on the fatter part of the tyre they then run cleaner.
It's all within the rules but it takes a lot of setting up which can really only be done with track times as well as having a Data Engineer & electronics specialist.
Isn't it to do with the throttle map on the ride by wire throttle? When I saw PBM testing at the start of the year they said Shakey was trying out loads of variations of themIt's all within the rules but it takes a lot of setting up which can really only be done with track times as well as having a Data Engineer & electronics specialist.
The rules say no traction control and no live gps read out for anything apart from lap timer.
However you can read the data post session, at that point you can effectively make the engine run lean (Ducati) or trim a cylinder (il4's)
Triumph were the first team to pioneer it British paddocks, when billy mc won bss. His triple sounded like a minitwin a lot of the time !
Complicated, expensive, but very effective.

fascinating insight from you guys who are much closer to it than the average joe like myself, I've really enjoyed the last few years of BSB but was confused on the whole JG thing as not much has been said about it on the telly, I did wonder if there was a little unrest somewhere..
I guess BSB being seen as the best domestic superbike championship in the world makes it a large beast and very much capable of running away with itself if not run in the right way.
I hope it works out, not least because I wouldn't want to see any sort of knock on effect to British Supersport (though aware this class has its own issues!), it's probably my favourite class in bike racing right now, in my mind it showcases the greatest talent before the real politics and big budgets get involved.

Just saw that. Think it would be a mistake tbh. Duke arnt going to undermine Chaz right now are they ?
Doesn't have to be Ducati.I may be wrong.
I always thought Shakey planned to stay and make BSB his own and unbeateable, record wise.
Very interesting.. can't see they'd switch to WSB, they must be signed up to BSB already for 2017 and I can't see it going down well at Ducati, who will no doubt want to maintain what is now a strong presence in both series.
Perhaps its a rider from WSB coming to join PBM? Where's Davide Giugliano going for 2017? Melandri has got his seat in WSB.. not sure if Irwin has a deal with PBM for 2017 yet?

Doesn't have to be Ducati.Hmm, I just can't see Shakey going for that, not at this stage in his career, it may take a few seasons to get the Honda on top.. time better spent racking up a few more BSB titles. Plus then what would PBM do with the BSB Ducati team?

Doesn't have to be Ducati.Be a bold and, I think, silly move for PBM/Shakey.

Unless it's unfinished business for shakey and pbm and something they want to give another bash.Edited by daniel-5zjw7 on Sunday 30th October 22:06
Plus they can see where BSB is heading why not go to WSB where Dorna will look after them plus I think PBM & Shakey want to add that title to their list of achievements.
On the plus side it's a great chance for the smaller BSB teams to grab some of these larger corporate sponsors therefore being less reliant on rider cash which means they have more options riders wise.
The racing will probably be even closer as the teams (with the exception of Honda) will be even closer.
The only problem is the grid will look a bit thin especially compared to the Superstock grid.

Do you think Be Wiser Ducati would fold then or could PBM do both BSB and WSB with a new rider on Shakeys BSB bike?
No disrespect to Shakey but I wouldn't fancy his chances much against the likes of Rea and Davies on tracks he's not visited for a long time.. but I guess if BSB really is a sinking ship perhaps it would be the way to go even if they aren't competitive off the bat.
