BB turning into GG/Lounge
Discussion
Many many areas of PH have descended into outraged handbaggery over the past year or so, often apparently just for the sake of it. I think BB is not as bad as some other boards, but it is definitely cliquey at times.
The handbaggery is unfortunately sometimes compounded by those who are so far up the backside of the main protagonist that you can barely see their big toe.

Anyway, any Midland meets in BB? I quite fancy going for a ride with some of you weirdos...
We ride to these as much as we can weather depending - http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...

No-one seems interested though.

I got bored by the second paragraph. Summary?
Ready Mister (and DogStar) don't like me, but haven't got the balls to say it explicitly. You come across like an arrogant dick most of the time. Your far too opinionated and have been the death of many a post. Its like you have far too much time on your hands. Its obvious people avoid interacting with you apart from the usual mob who know you, tolerate you, like you or dont want to get into it with you.
Your probably a awesome guy in person and I'd probably love man hug with you fella. We'll meet at some point I am sure and I will be the wrongest I have ever been about someone.
However until that time... I envisage you riding a BMW GS1200 with touratech equipment a flipface lid and a POLITE dayglo vest. Thats how I see you.
AVOID.
If you got/get asked the same basic question day in day out, or have an opinion purported to be fact, when the individual is really only guessing, after a while I guess it could get annoying.
Whilst the responses may be curt, I agree that by and large Loon has posted what should be construed as fact, given he works in that industry and has done so for a good number of years.

When you meet other bikers for the first time, people are normally friendly, polite, happy and excited to share positive stuff about their bike/new farkle accessory etc and make the effort to be nice or try to offer as helpful advice as possible without offending. People often provide complementary remarks - especially if the biker/owner is happy to share something about their biking hobby/interest.
And if there is nothing positive to be said, then one normally keeps some discretion, and may keep that conversation for a private 1-1 depending on how well they know the person.
It would be a whole lot better and more inclusive if people took the same approach to BB.
Isnt it about time you bought me a coffee, its your round! And if there is nothing positive to be said, then one normally keeps some discretion, and may keep that conversation for a private 1-1 depending on how well they know the person.

As a new member I quite enjoy reading the forums and definitely think the good advice far outweigh's the negatives/bickering. I do however have a thick skin and I can see how other new members might not like the responses they get and might leave.
I can say however that from the postings it seems like most people here are nice fella's who just like riding bikes. Some of you might be blunter than others but there's not really many 'direct' insults to people. I'm sure if I met any of you, you'd be nice normal guys/girls who like riding a bike... I don't imagine any of you are the chavvy guys Jazoli referred to in his thread 'fast bikes and st riders' so it probably just seems worse than it is on here. I've always thought that without a or something it's hard to get the tone. I was halfway through his thread thinking (like others did) that it was about new riders shouldn't have any remotely fast bike. But then I realised it was more about dicks blapping on the straights, cutting people up, blocking corners, and revving their bikes etc, and it wasn't about genuine new guys who're new to biking and want to learn with a normal humble attitude. Sometimes it's just difficult to understand if people are just trying to be rude or are being helpful but blunt.
Also having lived in Wales for a few years and knowing a Welsh accent very well... LoonR1's posts have taken on a whole new meaning!
(In light of my message here... that's tongue in cheek, Loon is usually helpful from the posts I've seen as a new member, just blunt).

I've been lurking around PH since the early 2000s but only relatively recently signed up for a forum username, and much more recently started to actually post. I've noticed quite a few occasions where a non-regular posts something controversial, and certain long-term forum members point out their lack of posting history as evidence that the poster's opinion counts for nothing. Perhaps people should try to be aware that there are probably 100 lurkers for every one active poster, and each time they see something like this, they are discouraged from posting themselves. Hence the number of active posters reduces until there are just one or two cliques. The long-timers need to welcome newcomers so that the forums don't stagnate. What made the forums better in the old days was that everyone was a newcomer...

I was never a newcomer I came across with many others from the YahooGroups TVR forum. It were all fields, as far as the eye could see in them days...But in the old days everyone had a shared interest in TVRs
Hmmm

I stopped posting because I thought everyone was sick of my st and because all the interesting people stopped posting as much.
I have met people from here in real life and had a really good laugh so they know I am not a dick (I hope) and I come across aggressive on here because I am so used to having to defend myself from piss takers that I am always on the attack
I love BB, it's the only thing I read and sometimes post on PH nowadays really.
