That isn't good math. I used to regularly get up to speeds around that mark(*) when I was into sports bikes and liked to see how quickly I could stop (they tell you that emergency braking is an essential skill when driving so I tried to bring stuff like that across to riding) and no way was it anything over the length of a pitch.
Cars and bikes these days stop a hell of a lot quicker than the highway code, which was written generations ago, suggests.

To an extent, but a lot of crap gets talked about braking. A single stop is down to tyres and mass far more than brakes, and most decent cars have pretty similar stopping distances. They have gone down, but not as much as people tend to assume, at least not in recent years.Cars and bikes these days stop a hell of a lot quicker than the highway code, which was written generations ago, suggests.

I'd like to bring to the table 94mph in a punto.
That may not sound very impressive but the book speed stated a top speed on 93 mph.
I once got my mums 1.2 8v Corsa with 44bhp up to 110mph once on our local private track. A tremendous achievement! That may not sound very impressive but the book speed stated a top speed on 93 mph.

Every car show that I've seen in recent years has shown that stopping distances have come down by a LARGE margin over that in the highway code.FartKong said:
