The riding position is as aggressive as an old ducati, not a lot of fanboys will put up with that when the other bikes are more road friendly. Surely once the hype has died and the next best japanese thing is here next year, the market will be flooded with r1.

If the riding position is that bad then that's not good for me. Of course I may have a different view after a test ride as we are all different.
I don't want a sports bike that's going to give me back and wrist ache after a hour.
Why i was surprised with how comfy the 1299 was when I test rode this

Had a go on demo bike today -

Fast, small, high footpegs, stiff suspension (quite good, tho), shyte brakes and I had trouble keeping the front wheel down.
cool

Something about that picture is making the R1 look really good. Maybe because the front is hidden?

I don't mind the front, but a bike is always gonna look better in the sunshine !

I don't expect much from Fowlers with test rides, which I knew before asking them so was not taken back when they said they have non.

But nice to know some dealers want to sell bikes and/or give test rides.

Keys in Worthing have a red one for sale, but no demo bikes

Squint and that looks very much like a K5 GSXR1000

Bob "Viagra" Collins @ FWR Tyres had his R1M remapped (to improve the fuelling and derestrict it) and said it really wakes the bike up. Although to be fair, he's confident backing it into corners at over 100 mph and will happily spin the back end all the way out of a 4th gear corner, so doesn't tend to mince about....

You think they would do that paint job on a blue one rather than the red one with its coloured disc carriers and water pipes. I get the idea from what's left over in dealers that the red ones aren't as popular - it's like history repeating itself.

R1M every time I would have thought?

Saw this when I was in there last weekend getting some new boots for the 'blade - very tasty.

Got mine up on stands yesterday for a chain lube and general clean and noticed a very fine film of oil on the lower fairing r/h/s - nothing major (I've had aprilias and ducatis in the past wink ) and nothing on the floor where the bikes been stood a week or so.

Then I pop over to one of the R1 forums and noticed a few owners have received recall notices for failing o-rings on an oil pipe just as it enters the motor.

Japanese ste !!

Had an 08 ZX10 for a year and it didn't miss a beat - everything before and since has had issues lol.
