wondering if anyone has a problem with the Duke R 690? I have a April 2015 with 1100Km so its as new, its had its first dealer service at 1000Km.

It stalls as I pull off, this is frustrating and dangerous at the lights, I have removed the baffle but other than this its stock, KTM locally say I am the only one and suggest no person on the planet has this issue?

KTM say that there is no problem with the low idle and mapping? I cannot adjust this thing without a powercomander module some 600 USD, and feel that a new bike should not suffer from this issue.

No support from KTM leaves me in a spot, with the problem being intermittent,it is almost impossible to sort in a workshop, the bike pulls hard and runs well, it seems to have this problem after standing at the lights for a few minutes suggesting the issue is idle mix and rpm at the low idle?

The strict emissions regs and big valves are where i think the issue is but KTM cannot help and a person who does not have dealer software and mapping exp is in trouble,

would appreciate some help from you guys if you can.

Get on the KTM forums as they'll have more knowledge on it but I believe you'd be right on something to do with the mapping as I recall seeing others with similar problems. My 690 (SMCR) has been without issue but I'm running a full Akra system and stage 1 map from KTM.

Thanks for this but the KTM forums only relate to the older LC 4 engines in 2014 the engine underwent huge changes and no person seems to comment on engines and issue after the 2013 model release?
The 2014/2015 engine is all canbus and is totall new from a software and set up procedure from what I can determine, al very frustrating! Give me loads of HP and a carb any day forget this twin plug twin ignition map simply to save some emission

i had this same issue although it was on th 2012 smcr 690 model. It would stall at lights, it would sometimes stall as i pulled away no matter what i did. Took it back to ktm who said it had thw wrong map on for the exhaust. got it back exactly the same so eventualy i just got my money back. Never got to the botom of it but it was scary setting off from major traffic lights and it cutting out when cars were behind.
Unfortunately it ruined ktm for me. The dealer ship were crap and very blunt with me and never got to the bottom of it. I owned it a month and only rode it twice.

I'm also on the new engine. I've had a quick read of this: http://advrider.com/index.php?threads/ktm-690-efi-...

See if you can take it to the dealer to have the throttle position sensor reset and maybe get the latest map installed? Worth a shot unless you can get hold of tuneECU.

The worst thing i had was after the first time i took it back to ktm they assured me it was sorted. wheeled it out of the service bay and as i started it it cut out and they just quickly slammed the metal shutters behind me. I bought it from a different garage who had me take it to ktm wakefield so i could explain with the gargae i bought it from paying the bill. But like i say i just swapped it after a month of faffing

Your making me very thankful I have a good dealer Tim, even if I did travel 120 miles to get it from them. Having dealt with my local, they were nowhere near as friendly or helpful.

I have reset the TPS, I have done the 15 minute cold idle dont touch the gas thing, as said its scary at the lights because as you pull of it dies, then needs to do its entire reset thing? some 2-3 seconds, all while the cars behind you want to pull off?

But KTM SA are real dicks, have no clue, and say I am the only one in the world who has experienced this!! if they will let me play with there hardware and interface i will fix it by raising the low end idle when hot, but apparently because KTM in Austria are bunny huggers they will not simply write a map that fixes this because of strict emissions control?

They first told me it was a faulty o2 sensor which was replaced. Then the smc has adjustable maps under the seat and they said a wrong one was loaded on. I wasnt 100% theyd even done anything to be honest the bike looked like it was untouched. The staff didnt even know which bike i was talking about until i walked them to the bike in their workshop, it just totally ruined the ownership and future ownership of a ktm for me unfortunately. If there was something they didnt know but appeared to be trying to solve it then id understand but they just didnt seem like they wanted to touch it. Its a shame as i love most of their range of bikes i just wont go back knowing the only local dealership are idiots.
