Popped out due to boredom. It was so slimy that I ended up getting tailgated by some massive Fiat thing.

I eagerly await my appearance in the DashCam thread.

I turned onto the A2 this morning into town off the M25 in my car , it was dark about 7am and in the already queuing traffic I got passed by two on a bike , the pillion had a woollen hat on, no helmet and was clinging to the back of the rider as close as they could. Both dressed in black with tiny rear light, like a candle.
The traffic was 3 lanes bumper to bumper, the temp was -1.5 and they were picking through the traffic that was moving at about 40mph. I still had ice on my car and I had started the journey at 6am.

Body was nice and toasty last night but legs and face were freezing. Had the same issue with my visor fogging up and getting sleet all over it. Hellish two hours. Looking for a pinlock to put in now
Pinlocks are one of those bike game changers you wonder how you managed without one!

Seconded! I got one with my newest helmet and it's amazing. No fogging 99.9% of the time, even in cold, damp conditions. The only time I had a bit of mist on the visor was during the recent blizzard, and on one particularly foggy day. I remember older helmets having to lift my visor as soon as I stopped on all but the warmest days or I couldn't see a thing.

This is the first winter for umpteen years that I've hardly ridden to work. Life is just too short for the morning/afternoon darkness, penetrating cold, salt, slime, ste all over the bike & other assorted unpleasantness. Some of you lot must be well hard, commuting in fking sleet!!!! Roll on the spring..............

Not about being hard, just that (for me) anything beats London public transport and I'll tolerate the cold etc. just so I can avoid mingling with the great unwashed.

That's about it for me too. For some reason I am definitely feeling the cold much more this winter than I ever have before. But yesterday I had a journey where the train would make sense and I had that option but I still took the bike because I just couldn't face the abject misery of sitting on a train.

Yep, no competition from me. Train is £200 a day or something stupid. Driving would involve too much traffic

Drove in today - I usually do on a Friday to get the wheels moving on the car.

Was dark when I left, and it's still dark now. Real damp and grim today.

For me anything is better than sitting in traffic. I also think there is something quite exhilarating about riding when the weather gets really bad. It feels like a challenge.

But then again, this is only my first year doing it...

There'll be delays at Waterloo tonight. I only get the train a few times a year and every time I do there's delays.

Today I'm "lunching" so the bike had to stay at home. If nothing else it'll remind me why I hate public transport.

Maybe I was less tolerant this morning, but it certainly seemed like the standard of driving was significantly worse than usual.

One guy in particular went out of his way veering left to right to prevent me from getting past him. He was previously right up my ass beeping and flashing to get through, on the rather congested A40 where all traffic was going under 10mph rolleyes A van driver nearly sideswiped me entering the Westway roundabout just as I approached the front of the queue he accelerated and changed lanes without indicating. None of the above was ever close enough to put me in danger, but it certainly seemed like I was having to react to a lot more bad driving than usual.

Glad I rode in today, traffic on the A31 was shocking, 2 stationery lanes for a few miles. Difficult to see with all the road salt and grime on my visor.
If I had taken the car, I would have missed my start time for my course.

The usual lot still commuting in?

Didn't feel as cold as the dash displayed this morning. Set off at -1, highs of 2 degrees.

Some stunning sun rises the past week.

Looking at the forecast, we're due some snow soon.

Rode in this morning as normal, and like you say it wasn't that bad, definitely no worse that recent days. As I'm in SSE London I'm going to see what the weather is doing later and decide whether I'm going to ride home or not then - can always take the train and leave the bike secure in the basement of the office.

Really quiet roads this morning and certainly didn't feel as cold as the thermo suggests. Left a bit too late and made up the time en-route smile

I put a woolly hat and some insulated thermal gloves in my top box today just in case I hit any problem getting home due to snow. Obvs that means snow is now guaranteed to miss the uk entirely
