And today's commuting highlight is...
Discussion
Lots of bikers this morning sitting between lanes 2 and 3 on the M4 but not pushing on. Had to undertake 3 or 4 on my short blast to work.
Why would you sit in a car/vans blindspot and hold me up, and one of them was wearing a polite vest...
Also, lost my seat cowl last night on the way home, so if anyone sees a blue Ducati cowl on the M4, let me know!

Really bad accident must have only just happened on the highway in London this morning - looked like a smaller cc bike what was left of it and a big lexus 4x4 hope the rider ok.
On a lighter note the bike fashion hit a new level this morning, shorts with knee and shin protectors looked like an extra from Gladiator and rode like a dick
Hope we all dodge the storms later - hope so only got my draggin jeans :-)
Highway accident was mentioned on the BBC London Travel news I saw at 8am, I took my south of the river Rotherhithe tunnel route to work accordingly to avoid the highway - the traffic was very stationary heading into town on Aspen Way opps Billingsgate market - so I dived off to the A13 rather than take the limehouse link.On a lighter note the bike fashion hit a new level this morning, shorts with knee and shin protectors looked like an extra from Gladiator and rode like a dick

Pretty smooth ride in except having to be very careful around the high numbers of lycra clad roadbike cyclists all racing each other on Jamaica road NONE of them look around before moving in the lanes and ride in the shared bus lane like they are the sole owners -sign says differently! If the cyclists arn't racing then they're the super clueless ones some a danger to themselves and others including their own.
Again noting the cycle cops were out on Southwalk street same spot waiting for cyclists jumping the lights and clearly waiting for bikers to use the cycle box too. I spotted them and made sure my wheel did not stray in. Funny one cyclist ran the red but then did an immediate left turn they were too far away to notice or stop him.

Commercial Road last night was chocka in several places, mul;tiple bikes all fenced in. I looked at my dash and it was 35.5 degrees!
Shortly after,I my mate cut round the side of a bus and for the very first time ever clonked the bus with my his topbox. Oops.
Re the below:
As mentioned before, when I had a hire bike recently after I was punted off, they brought me out a 1250 Bandit. The delivery guy asked where I would be using it, and when I said London he said, good job he brought me a Bandit, if he'd brought me a Triumph he wouldn't expect to be seeing it again.
Keep your wits about you (looks like you do anyway).
Shortly after,

Seems to be the way, I'm just riding a 2016 street triple so nothing spectacular. My wife had to swerve with the pram into the road on hampton hill by some hoodlums mounting the pavement earlier in the week as they were messing about. Apparently they have been scoping out for bikes in the area. Things have gotten completely out of hand. I really hope we manage to sell soon and we can get out of this town! Judge Dredd style justice needed.
Not wanting to cause further panic but Triumphs are high on their listKeep your wits about you (looks like you do anyway).

Something about the M4 and rear seats, I hadn't secured mine properly and was hitting a bit of pace when I felt it flapping up against my back, I reached round and wedged it between my nuts before pulling off (the m4 that is)and securing it properly. Why would you sit in a car/vans blindspot and hold me up, and one of them was wearing a polite vest...

Went to see my Dad after work tonight which meant 35 miles down the A40/M40 west from Euston to High Wycombe. Hats off to you guys that do this daily - what a horrible commute filtering through until you get to the M40. Cant wait for the reverse trip tomorrow morning...
Makes my normal commute from Euston to Beckenham seem like fun!! Lots of filtering but pretty much all single carriageway so easy and plenty of room (except Brixton High Street!).
Still, at least it was a bit cooler tonight

M40 to Euston is a lot easier in the Mornings. Probably a bit of filtering past Northolt but there's plenty of room. The section just west of the Westway, horrible westbound, is usually moving freely, then a bit of tight filtering over the Marylebone flyover and onto the Marylebone road.Makes my normal commute from Euston to Beckenham seem like fun!! I have occasionally got from the M40 to Euston without having to put my feet down.

The time at which you go east (and to a lesser extent) return west can have an impact on how many pillocks you encounter...
(Knackered '05 GS for all the A40 commuters out there)
Strange one for me that's beginning to manifest itself.
The digital speedo of my CBR600F (2003) has started reading 0 after periods of hard (ish) acceleration (2/3rds or rev's), it'll display either a 0 or another number that's totally not right and usually <5mph...does ususally fix itself after a few seconds though
Anybody know the likely cause of this?

it may be a sensor which has some muck or swarf on it, causing an error. Where does your speedo drive come from? Gorgeous ride in this morning, roads pretty light, temperature just right, nice flow. And caught a break at the lights on lower Thames street, 53 leptons!!
This, most lights went with me, not too hot, not too cold....light traffic, plenty of opportunity to open it up too - result! Relatively smooth for a Monday morning despite being badly pulled out upon near home, apparently if you wave your whole arm out of the window when you're in the middle of doing this it absolves you of the responsibility of actually looking before hand.
Still more drivers pretenting to be bikers in the Summer with complete lack of observational/spacial awareness stuck in a fake queue of cluelessness without checking to their left for the ton of free space and ability to make progress between the traffic. Stunningly no traffic island/central reservation abuse observed today.
