Brilliant that your not too beaten up! Considering she went into your side on I was fearing the worst!

Let's hope the insurance sorts itself out easily, guess having the witnesses helps!

Bike badly beaten up? - will it go again?

Thanks. Bike I reckon is a gonner. Lost all the oil and coolant on the road. Extensive damage in a load of places. I'm guessing from the side impact that the frame is bent. You never know but I suspect even if the frame is OK the cost of repair will be enormous.

Witnesses all a bit shaken, they all said they feared the worst then they saw me fall.

Lucky not to get injured, which is the main thing when liability looks very black and white so you should get paid out OK.
I got side rammed near 25 years ago and although no broken leg, the headlight on the car cut right through one of the three muscles just above the knee. That gave me a crutch for six weeks and I remember a piece of headlight glass 'rising to the surface' and breaking the skin a year or two later. Six weeks weight off the leg and it looked like it belonged on a chicken.

Police car hiding up a country road trying to catch unsuspecting commuters on their way to work at 5am. It's a long straight road so they might get lucky and get someone doing 65. Sad bds.

Finally fixed up a number of pressing issues on the bike - wow what a transformation

Only after putting the new rear on do I appreciate how squared off it was, the heated grips mean my hands are far better than they were, the oil no longer falls out the crank case gasket and the removal of the exhaust baffle makes it far more fun!

Glad you're OK AngryBiker. Sounds like it could have been much worse.

Rainy ride in this morning. I normally stay in the fast lane on the motorway because I feel like I'm going to get squashed otherwise. Needless to say it nearly happened due to driver not looking before switching lanes. Not going in the middle lane again, lesson learnt ha ha.

Do you think Kies heated inner gloves would be comfortable if the outer glove is oversized? Appreciate there may be no right answer to this question smile
can be i went to size 11 from 9. i took them into the shop and tried different pairs/sizes on with the inner

it would have been cheaper to just buy heated gloves as the 11 are too large when not using the inner
I would like to also get another pair but like say it'll a bit to the cost. My gloves have stretched a bit due to this but not so they're too big.

Brilliant! How did you fix the leak? Did that UV equipment help out much?

I actually just took the fairing off - when looking at the crank cover the source of the leak was blindingly obvious - the wire for the sensor wasn't seated properly where it exited the case itself - putting it in the correct position, plus sealing around it seems to have done the job smile

Not one but two drivers this morning who thought that their right of way from my left onto the road I was on was greater than mine. Separate incidents. Both of them looked at me as if to say WTF.

And what is it with other bike commuters who are happy to put another biker on offer if it means they shave 2 secs off their hour-long commute? Mr VFR this morning. Mind you, I followed him for a while and his riding was really wild and loose, don't imagine he'll be pushing his luck for very much longer.

My commuting highlight coming home on Friday:

Lights on York Road, Wandsworth, intersection of plough road. Going towards Wandsworth roundabout.
Scooter in front of me went off the lights the millisencond it turned amber and raced away. I made off on green together with a Fazer on my left. Car raced through its red from the side road on the right, slammed into my side - apparently pushing me sideways about 2 yards and into the Fazer who also came off. I'm told I did a rather spectacular cartwheel and bounced a few times before getting up immediately.
Woman tried telling us and 3 other witnesses that she went through on Amber - to which all 5 of us said "No, love, don't think so".

Unquestionably jumped the red - and not only just. a) scooter had time to clear the way so she hit numbers 2 and 3; b) 4 witnesses say our light was green. Police mandated to attend because I was injured so they will be doing their own investigation. I guess there's maybe a good chance of a dangerous driving charge; and if they're feeling mean they could also do red light - in which case if they do both then that's her license.

Nothing broken but right leg hurt like hell; and the obligatory 'felt like 2 rounds with Mike Tyson' on Sat and today. Advised by the quack to stay home keep it elevated for a few days with frozen peas and nurofen, to reduce swelling and stop 'compartment syndrome', which I didn't know about until yesterday.
sorry to see this and what a near miss injury wise...whilst I'm sure it doesnt feel that way I think you've had a result considering how much worse it could have been.

riding around London it seems to be the case that red lights are now seen as optional by many drivers. including buses. Elephant and Castle is virtually daily. Its a real issue for bikers as we are naturally at the front of the lights. When you consider how many speed cameras and cctv there are, I dont know why they cant install more traffic light cameras

Had a near miss this morning, passing a van on a nice straight stretch of road and just as I'm alongside he suddenly decides he's going to overtake the vehicle in front of him and pulls out. I've no clue how we didn't collide!

Yeah elephant is bad for that and lots of others too - In my case it was impossible to see though because the side road is thin and she was approaching when her lights turned red - so none of us could see here and we all thought everything was clear. At least with Ele and the lights just before the limehouse link etc you can see them all coming.

Glad you are ok, very lucky you did not have more extensive leg injuries if she went into the side of you like that. Best use your home time to plan the replacement smile

Think I used a life this evening.

Coming up beckenham hill, just before the speed camera (incase anybody knows it) a car decides to turn across me into a side road...a load of front brake, rear end goes light and I have enough time to release the brake and swerve around their rear end, in reality with more room than it seemed/I thought I'd have initially. Given it was a slight corner I was a little twitchy!

Thankfully all was ok but didn't half make my sphincter go!

Biker down on the Westbound sliproad of jnt 8/9 Maidenhead, could not see much as I was going the other way and then Westbound of the M4 heading towards Jnt 3 was carnage and it was all back up down jnt 2 to the Chiswick roundabout, total carnage, very glad I was on my bike today, would have taken ages if I had been in a car.

Got absolutely schooled in filtering this morning by a bloke on a Bonnie. He wasn't riding like a cock or going stupid fast, but the amount of progress he was making was crazy so I just tagged in behind him. Never made it up the Western Distributor so fast.

But today's highlight was just being able to commute. The amount of rain we've had in Sydney has been killing me, 15mm in 1/2hr at one point yesterday.

Yes, unfortunately I saw the aftermath, no news on the web but someone said they saw the biker taken away in an ambulance walking.
