A rather grey ride in this morning with very little traffic
Lots of Security at the Wharf this morning , both barriers up and checking everything coming into the site.
Guessing that must be a reaction to nut job at Westminster on Tuesday.Lots of Security at the Wharf this morning , both barriers up and checking everything coming into the site.
I binned off the bike and got the train in today, also besides dodging the rain as I've still not got new kit its a works leaving do tonight
Today's commuting highlight was.......commuting.
We've got some fairly heavy-duty issues ongoing currently in the extended family, which have meant me being away from work. 'Twas a relief today to get back on the bike and then sit behind a desk.
That aside, the other highlight was shortly after I came up behind a group of 6 bikes commuting slowly along Commercial Rd, all spread out in the bus lane but not leaving any real gap to get through without being an ass. Ditched them after about a mile with a crafty manoeuvre approaching some lights, and enjoyed the rest of the ride in with no bikes around me.

Wet, miserable, grey, spray and numpties on sports bikes in black visors .... get a grip ....
Hey, I'm still using a tinted visor, I find it so much easier on the eyes, I don't ride a sports bike though. I do have a clear visor in my bag all the time in case it gets too dark.First time I have worn my waterproof trousers in about 3 months, turned the boiler on at work to dry my kit for the ride home.

120 odd miles on the M4 this morning in insane spray and rain.Something else!
I went the opposite direction to you, from Berks into South Wales, probably around the same time, visibility was terrible.dibblecorse said:

Mines photochromatic but I suspect it wasn't very tinted this morning!SBDJ said:

Brand new premium goretex pro gear, still soaked as it all went down my neck! I was fuming!
I feel your pain, brand new Rukka Goretex jacket with storm collar. Didn’t let a drop in. Sadly it all went up the front join between jacket and trousers, rendering me soaked through anyway supercommuter said:

The one area of my wet weather gear I've yet to fully address. I stay completely dry everywhere else but the wet always eventually manages to get in via the neck. On a good day it'll take over an hour before its through but on other occasions it's less than 15 mins. The fact that the screen seems to direct the rain up under the chin of my helmet doesn't help. Has anyone found any neck kit that actually solves this problem?Think it was someone on here recommended these - I would as well. Top drawer stuff and very useful given Klim gear has stupidly low collars:

Crazy traffic on the A1 last night. When I filtered through it all and got to the cause there was an abandoned broken down car in lane 2! Driver was sat on the verge chilling out as if nothing was the matter.
Lovely empty road in front of it though!!
You didn't think it might be a great service to all your fellow road users to help the guy push it to the kerb?Lovely empty road in front of it though!!
The Rooster stuff is good value, I used to use lots of their stuff when I was sailing.
On another topic, sat at the lights (actually at the front without filtering) on my way to the station this morning some numpty on a Chinese 125 with a loud can pushed past me to the front. Then he pulled away like he was a GP racer, until he obviously ran out of power. He then positioned himself in the middle of the outside lane of the dual carriageway with everyone stacked up behind him!
No etiquette.
I admit I then had a bit of a red mist moment and went past him despite his best efforts to take up the whole width of a lane.

In the winter I wear a 'Buff' which is like a small scarf and it stops water running down my neck. black-k1 said:

Just me or is the standard of driving so much worse after ~8pm?
Unfortunate given a new job with a lot on I've been a little later than normal leaving the city, 8-11pm and the quality (or lack of) seems so much worse than it is leaving at 6pm, or even my commute in, arriving at 6:30am?
The Old Kent Road, New Cross, Lewisham and Catford especially. Changing lanes without indicating, checking mirrors or anything - aggressive tailgating even when mailing (cough) progress (you'll only be stuck as infilter to the top of the next lights anyway) and uber eats scooters stopping directly in front of you, past the bycycle stop line even though you've just passed them, on multiple occasions - I'm stopped at the line for sts and giggles apparently....
Well it could be worse, not been caught in then rain for a good few months now!
