I think I picked the only 15 minutes of rain to ride in this morning. Sunny either side. typical

On Tuesday it was lashing down, spray and windy all the way from Reading to Bristol, was chuffed to get home and still be bone dry under the Dane gear, very happy with it now after a rocky entrance into 'premium' kit.

Tuesday was brutal as I went to my parents in SE London after work and then did A2/M25/M3/A329 back to Reading and the rain, wind and spray was shocking, also got back bone dry smile

Don’t know what's impacting you guys but I seem to have missed the rain every day this week

Being on a scooter was interesting today...the gusts of wind an A3 were actually quite scary a couple of times.

I got it on the way to work, then it was dry all day and then got it again going home! It lashed it down, I was bone dry underneath, but left a nice puddle of water in my hallway

Had a meeting that massively over ran last night, didn’t pack a clear visor. Couple that with some all mighty gusts on the motorway, luckily I missed most / all of the rain.

Lovely ride in this morning, super quiet roads.

Today's highlight was the confirmation of the suspicion I've had for a few weeks that the clutch is on it's way out. Being an R1200RT it's something like a day and half's work for a fully-equipped workshop (vs about an hour for a DIY job on a UJM).

I have the tools, but having watched a couple of videos I have neither the time not the inclination to do it myself. Looks like a beast of a job. So I'm just awaiting a call back on just how savage the wallet rape will be.

Plus it needs new brakes all round which is another £400-ish even if I do that myself. And a big service soon I expect.

All of the above said, you might remember it was written off a couple of years ago and I bought it back, so it doesn't really stand me in very much money at all. So I may as well lube up and get on with it, rather than change it. But I'm probably looking at the thick end of £2k here. Gah.

Still, look on the bright side, that's only 4 months of season ticket.

Came across the clean up of an accident on the A13, looked like a red VFR had gone down, lots of front end damage but no other vehicles or rider around so maybe slipped on something

Central London has been fine, normally shortly into my M4 trek

Get a quote from Steve @ MotoScot who is based up near st. albans. Ex master BMW tech, but with half their hourly rate.

Thanks. He's a bit out of my way but I'll bear it in mind.

I've had one indy estimate at £900 (just the clutch, not the other stuff!) and am awaiting another. There is also a general indy near home, he seems to mainly work on Jap stuff but might ask him too. Will drop Steve a line if I'm not getting anywhere.

That's a fairly big outlay in one lump and some downtime!

It's a far ride from you buy Guy @ Motoedit (Cambridgeshire) could be worth a shout,

Not being funny, but why do you ride when Reading to Paddington takes 30min on the train? I get it if you're going elsewhere in London.

I live in Caversham too, and when I've been working in London a site next to Paddington would have been the dream ticket! (never happened)

Perhaps he lives an inconvenient distance from Reading station, meaning it would be a journey anyway, with something to park, then a wait at the platform, a crowded train in, and an expensive season ticket.

This, i can get the train but i have a 20 min journey to the train station, parking, train ticket then costs a wedge, I am governed by the train timings etc.

Bike for me all day

Pretty sure he lives in Caversham. The station is no distance. I know that because I live there smile

That depends what side of Caversham, I'm at the top on the Henley Road so the station is a good 25 minute walk, plus I'm in Paddo 3 days a week so a season ticket isn't cost effective and a daily peak return is nearly £55 so its ride in or spend nearly £700 a month on train tickets plus walking or cabs / buses, would rather just ride.

If you ever fancy a coffee, give me a shout .. I work in Reading by the station the other 2 days smile

My commute this morning, 4 minutes from garage to parked, yes, I used the Multi lol

Also get a quote from Jap and German near Tower Bridge. They're normally quite reasonably priced.
