I was walking past the London Wall/Moorgate junction this morning and some utter wkblanket of a biker thought it was big and clever to bounce his engine off the limiter about every 5 seconds as he approached the junction and then filtered his way through it, round a stationary lorry and off up the road.

Well done, you nob. Not only did you look like a complete throbber (you'd be amazed how many people around you were looking and laughing incredulously) but you give the rest of us a bad name too.
Was this a black Fireblade? Ridden down there the last few days behind a bloke who loves bouncing his bike off the limiter

Herd mentality.
One geezer jumps red on dual carriage way turning right, into oncoming traffic who are on green light. I'm in left lane to him for straight over on green. Straight over both lanes go and right turner's on other sequence, you get the idea.
Cars behind follow him through, not one noticed the red light.

What a day of two halves ....

It seemed the ride in this morning was unusually quiet in central London. Then ride home this evening was bloody slow going on the M4, slow moving through the average 50 zone.

Anyone riding through Cromford on the A6 via whatstandwell, don't. No gritters have been out and a band of black ice on the 3rd or 4th bend before Cromford Hill crossroads.
Was very nearly an arse on tarmac moment. Lost front end and then back, lucky to have recovered. Quite terrifying if I'm honest.

Ice on my seat this morning which was a bit chilly. Wore my new Daytona boots for the first time and they weren't great, very stiff so really struggled changing gear and was digging into my ankle. Should break in over the next few weeks so I've every confidence they'll end up being as good as everyone says.

Also ran out of fuel last night on the way home. My previously tested reserve of 3.1l ran dry completely at 2.8l yesterday. Was a bit of a surprise and didn't help that there was nowhere to stop on my side of the road so had to shoot across to a side road on the other side. Thankfully it was close to home and my wife had just got in, by chance I had a 5l container of fuel at home so she just grabbed it and came to rescue me. All in all only delayed me getting home by 20-30 mins but I've now learned not to trust the reserve read out!

Exciting commute today.

First time commuting on a big bike after picking up a Versys 650 last week. Little scary given the size and weight of the thing compared to the cbf125. So much more relaxing on the a20/m20.

On the way in I stopped to help a guy on a gsxr who was knocked off by some tt turning left. The guy was OK as was the bike bar the crash bungs, but the driver didn't stop. Total prick.

Ride home was meantal busy through Eltham. Was the a2 closed?

Spent 3 hours on the bike yesterday, 3 X 1 hour stints. Safe to say the bike is now completely covered in road crap and salt, as are my textiles.

My pinlock decided to give up on my rides in the evening, so add that with the fog, made for some interesting viewing / de mist tactics.

Might treat myself to some Keis heated gloves to go with my jacket as that's the only cold bit now.

Bit windy on the way home tonight and the crappest rain you can have. Enough to be a pain but not enough to get you wet.

Oh and 20 mins into my commute I realised I'd forgotten shoes.. Early start ended up with late in.. Ffs.

rode home as usual last night in the rain, stopped to fill up, and then the heaven's well and truly opened.

Biblical rain, running down off my helmet and down my back, not seen rain like it for years.

My kits still damp this morning frown had to find a different pair of gloves to wear.

to top all that, managed to drop my bike this morning. got to work and they were cleaning some of the leaves and stuff up from where we are allowed to park bikes, so stopped, thought i had put the side stand down started to get off and over goes the bike frown no damage, but looked like a total tit as i tried to stop it going over and had the bike bouncing off the limiter frown

Wind made filtering over the Hammersmith flyover very interesting!

On the bright side the epic rain was a good test for the new Rukka gear. So that’s a big thumbs up ...

ahhh - i raise you two on the neck (wife wondered what i'd been doing) and one on the thumb and electric shock as the glove got wet inside and out

not impressed but i think user error, too tight with the jacket Velcro now use a neck buff between jacket and skin and wet hands from filling with petrol

and f'in pin locks it just doesn't work, constantly fogs on one side despite cleaning and reinserting real sod on the m'way

Had kit failure on the boots today ... took them off this evening and socks wet on the top. Bone dry around ankles so must be sleeping in somewhere.

What the general consensus on boots that don’t leak?

After 4 years and over 20k miles my Altberg Roadrunners are as good as new. I've never had an issue with them.

Saw those and am keen but don’t fancy the drive up to the factory for fitting. Did you do the whole fitting exercise or just order online?

Nice, at least mine is hidden!

Had the electric shock in the past from a pair of Kies gloves too - they split on the outside after a short time and water got in and I started to get an interesting tingle.

In comparison the Gerbings have been fine even when properly wet, although this time of year a small pair of neoprene muffs helps keep the rain and cold off a bit.

I've found my pinlock pins have moved slightly in the visor, and the pin slots on the insert have "worn" slightly from taking it in and out over time, that combined contributed to it working slightly loose and letting air in. I was able to twist the pins back so that the insert is a tight fit again, and it works as it did when new again.

Had a small "phew" moment myself this morning. Saw a small stationary lorry with a van behind it, by a road island, thought "right, I'll nip between the van and the lorry", as you do. Lorry moved off, next thing I know the van is trying to crowd me into the island. Start muttering obscenities to myself, then I feel something brushing my leg.....

.....er, the van was attached to the lorry which was towing it on one of those front-wheel lift bars! For reasons I just can't explain, I completely failed to clock that as I passed the van. Lorry driver was pretty pissed with me, I just apologised profusely, mea culpa, nothing else I could do. Good job he was watching what he was doing.
