Crazy amount of traffic around Mitcham this morning due to the very pointless contraflow system that's been operating since last night. Going past huge lines of stationary cars with plenty of oncoming traffic visibly steering towards me when there's plenty of space on the road for everyone to fit.

Got chatting to another biker at the various lights we stopped at, he was riding a lovely Honda CB1000R. I've always wanted a Ducati Monster but I do think this could actually be better, I think it looks better and it's bound to be reliable. Would love one as my next bike when I'm no longer commuting into central London and leaving it parked in a bay all day.

Seems to be loads of car crashes last couple of weeks - people driving after boozy nights out or what? Every journey there's something on the M20 & the A2.

That plus the combination of summer tyres with wintery conditions.

car today, i couldn't get out of the drive on to the road which was icy, i would have ended up dropping it followed by the comedy sketch of trying to pick it up on an icy road. Good job really as today's job was south of Denbigh and the minor roads were really icy

ended up stuck in the chaos that was the failed grid on the M56 thank god for local knowledge

still one or two brave souls out and about in the NW and north wales nice day once on the main roads

Yup there was 2 crashes between Wrotham and the M25 today. Both fronts stoved in.

Dropped my commuter hack off for a service today and have a brand new GS TE as a loaner. So for today only Matthew I am officially a wker holding up my fellow biking commuters.

If I got in your way this morning ... Sorry.

Have to say though it is a very accomplished motorcycle, if a touch boring. Not for me but I can see the appeal. It's got the new TFT display. For fk sake how much information does one need to ride a motorbike these days.

Was nearly taken off last night - filtering down the OKR the (minicab) prius I was filtering between decides to drift left, squeezing me left - not great when there is a fixed axle c25t lorry there! Needless to say a quick squirt of throttle and a straight pass was kept and I escaped clattering only the Prius' wing mirror with the end of the handlebars - totally non-intentionally. Thing is they then have the tenacity to bib me!

I pull over should they wish and give some visual aggro back, they decide not to so I carry on with my journey....

Note - normally I am but be extra cautious around prius minicabs....

Highlight yesterday: seeing a Model T Ford trundling up Putney High street. Made me smile.

Lowlight today: Some utter tool in a newish X5 shooting up the left filter lane and then swerving right in front of traffic, including me, as I moved off when the main carriageway went green. I didn't see him coming at all as he was really shifting. Properly stty driving.

I gave him the bird in his rear view mirror then a wide berth as I filtered past him about 100m up the road. tt.

Roads were very empty for me today. Got from near Sutton to Fulham in about 25-30 mins so I can't have been going at the preferred speed of her majesty's government. Quite warm and dry too considering it's late December.

Exactly my experience, very pleasant ride in - got from Beckenham - borough in ~18 minutes, was sitting at my desk in the city within 30, 15 minutes early....

Started getting busier again....

To top it off I even managed to pick up a screw in a 1.5k mile old front tyre...think I’ll have to call breakdown out to fix that tomorrow

Well breakdown refused to plug it, gunk wouldn't fix it and I ended up riding the bike 4 miles to Watling in Catford to get a new front tyre this morning.

Managed to then ride to work, arriving 2 hours late, pulled into the lift to go down to the basement car park....turned the bike off....the fker wouldn't re-start!

Unless the building security guys have a portable powerbank I guess I'm calling SOS again to get home.....

Ride home last night in the gale force winds and heavy rain was very interesting. Some of the antics of drivers, pedestrians and even bikers yesterday made me realise we are not a species made to last.

I've learned to accept that motorists and pedestrians seem to have little sense of self preservation, even more applicable to scooterists around London. Was however a bit surprised that a biker on a spanking new Moto Guzzi V7 (who was sitting in traffic for quite some time) suddenly decided to start filtering without a glance in his mirror or a lifesaver, very nearly collecting me in the process. Luckily there was nothing coming the other way so I was able to go wide around him.

Totally agree with the above, noticing this even more with the L(iability) platers always wanting to get one up on you!

This should be an interesting ride home today!

London to Bristol in a storm with a 21" front wheel. Lovely job.
