If you have the link, post it? I would like to try and at least comment. Naturally no one in the council will be held to account on it.
The link they provide on the flyers is consultation.hackney.gov.uk and then search for "motorcycles" but when you do that it returns a "No results found". I also searched all live consultations, there are only 12, and bikes wasn't in the list anywhere. I've emailed them and asked where it is.

Sounds exactly like a council scheme to me, shockingly crap.

I bet they mean that any bikes not ULEZ compliant won't be permitted to park?

That's at least what I'm expecting. Wonder whether they will accept the rigmarole around proving that older bikes are actually compliant?

Keep us informed - when there's news I suggest starting a thread with a link - I'm sure we'd all happily comment.

I'd love to see the calculation - due to traffic I suspect even a 1200 will be less polluting than any car.

Lovely commute through Surrey and into Hampshire this morning. Little chilly but half term so roads reasonably empty.

Commuting by bike into London for me is coming to an end.

Over the last 20 years traffic lights have doubled, speed cameras are everywhere and now we're getting 20mph throughout central London on TFL roads.

My commute has gone up from 35-40 mins to an hour already and 20mph is probably a pain I just cannot bare. Going over Westminster bridge which is already 20 mph is bloody agony and pointless. And you can bet they will enforce it with vigour.

As soon as they make electric scooters legal for my short journey either end I'm back on the train.

I'm sad. Come Monday morning if I haven't been out on the bike at the weekend I actually used to look forward to my commute at the beginning of the week and counted myself as a very lucky chap as I'm sure not many people can say that but it looks like THE MAN is finally grinding me down and I'll just be mixing with the rest of the peasants going about their daily grind.

If my number plate accidentally fell off I wonder how long it would take before I got a pull ?

If you're an average person who generally obeys the laws, you'll get pulled in about 20 seconds. If you're an absolute moron, ripping round at 50 through red lights, stop signs, up on the pavement and all sorts then you'll be alright for about 10 years I'd suspect. Seems to be the way!

Watched a police program where an 18 year old was caught doing 70 in a 40 and after a pretty harsh telling off by the copper, he was let off with a warning!

They've finally published it. https://consultation.hackney.gov.uk/parking-servic...

Bottom line, if your bike emits <120g/kg CO2, you have to pay £61 a year to park. Above that the costs go up. I imagine the same debacle as with the ULEZ over actual emissions will ensue.

Add this in to the 20mph bks and yes, it does all start to stack up against biking to work. But the train is still a much worse option.

ETA: annoyingly I was talking to a mate last night about buying his K1600GT but that appears to emit 135g so it would double the parking cost.

ETAA: even more annoyingly I work in a street where the boundary for Hackney & Islington is drawn. The Islington parking spaces have been suspended for almost a year now with no sign of them returning; if they gave us those back I could part the K16 there, altho I suspect those spaces will become a massive daily bunfight if they are free and the ones nearby charge.

I saw that, utterly infuriating double standard.

120g/km is a pretty low target - I think about 55mpg official consumption. Mind you, a £61 difference isn't worth changing a bike for of course.

I've long been saying it, but surely all this malarkey and inconvenience to the workers and residents of London is driving them out?
Why start a company in London when Reading, Guildford etc. are accessible and would serve just as well. Even smaller outliers like Dartford, Watford, Brentwood/Chelmsford, etc. are looking far more attractive as places to start services based companies; lower real estate costs, less red tape, less commuting woes, and so forth. You have to wonder if they've gone mad with respect to trying to keep the City competitive.

I saw a stat that in 2018 London had a net loss of residents, with 288k leaving and around 260k coming in. The kicker was the majority of the 288k leaving were native born Brits. Thereby obviously again changing the culture of the City even further.

I commute from Kent to The City each day. I agree with all the above and some days sitting in traffic on London Bridge in the rain an all the crazy nut job cyclists I do ask myself "why am I doing this?". Well I just reminded myself why. Those strong winds 6 weeks ago blew me off my bike (while stationary!!) and I fractured my elbow and so have been on the trainfor 6 weeks. Honestly, when they work it's really nice, read the book, stay warm/dry etc. But man, the train is so unreliable with cancellation, delays and terminations all over the place, and that's on Southeastern which one of the good ones. Also, it's seriously expensive when you're buying tickets short term. Loved my ride in today, radio on, my world, sunny and chilly.

I park in the underground on London Wall and there's a scooter tw*t that is parking his Sinnis scooter in the access lane in the middle of the bays meaning no one can get past his bike. Like he just rides up stops, gets off and leaves it there. Grrrr.

whilst one would never condone law breaking etc I'm pretty sure there are no cameras on London Bridge. The bit that pisses me right off is the never ending building work at the top which have taken up 1 lane, meaning you have to ride in the bike lane on the left of the plastic bollards OR sit in traffic.

The entire City is a minefield of cyclists, odd road designs, pedestrians with headphones, Uber tw*ts who turn left from the right hand lane, potholes, hi viz nobbers trying to stop the traffic (is that even legal) so they can safely unload building materials etc etc.

Saying that, my view is it keeps you on your A game, and actually more likely to get knocked off when relaxed

My office has moved back into the city now, i am considering sacking the bike off and moving to the train after about 250,000 miles of commuting in the last 10 years

Camera heading south (approaching the traffic lights) but not North I don't think. Makes the cyclist really cross when you use the cycle lane on the North end by those plastic bollards. Makes me really cross when they ignore every single traffic law and cycle at 2000 mph

I've seen Police waiting with speed guns going to the south side of London bridge few times so I'd be weary about pushing it. All of Lower Thames Street is now 20MPH since about a week or so ago frown quite ridiculous considering how much space there is when going west and the barriers stopping peds from crossing and I'm sure there will be Police with speed guns at random points here too since it's all relatively new.

May have been my fault - a good while ago I didn't clock a trafpol (thankfully stuck in traffic N-bound) up near the limiter in 1st on my old CBR600 on what was an empty London bridge - got a shook fist which caused me to rapidly ease off and flick it up a few gears to quieten it down. Stupid thing is it is undoubtedly the safest road in the city - 2.5 lanes, barriers stopping any pedestrians etc - in the middle of the bridge 20mph is ridiculous and at each end, given potential for a step-out 20mph is arguably too fast....
