First time I've ridden into the city for several months this week, only to be faced with all of the "innovative" road modifications the ing mayor and TFL have pushed through whilst taking advantage of the pandemic. Simple journey in to Threadneedle street from the east side is now a fking ordeal seemingly designed with nothing else in mind than making it as awkward and infuriating as possible for motorised transport to get where it needs to. fk TFL and fk Khan
As somebody else that commutes to threadneedle street its indeed a hufe fk-up....wait until you need to head home!I come in from London Bridge so only a small change getting in - Gracechurch st and not through the Bank junction, however, because of where the entrance to where my office car park is, to head back via London bridge I have to do a loop - Moorgate - London Wall - St Pauls - Cannon Street and then over!

Lost the back end on some wet leaves this morning thankfully just about kept the bike shiny side up.
They're lethal at the moment - where I am in Beckenham it seems like they haven't bothered to get the sweeper out in monthsIs it me or are motorway drivers particularly annoyed at filtering at the moment? Never had so many full beam responses to perfectly safe filters as this morning's M6 jaunt. Maybe everyone's just a bit fed up and taking it out on their headlight bulbs?
The fact that I had to do it twice this morning didn't improve my own mood! Got everything ready and packed in my rucksack for this set of shifts after being on rest days since Friday, then left said bag in the garage!! Only realised when I was already on the Aston expressway, so back to Jct 11 I went. The second Southbound run was SO much busier. Amazing the difference an hour makes - I usually leave the house at 0600 but it was 0710 before I left the second time.

Hopefully we'll have a couple of weeks of dry weather & the wind will do its thing....
Dry in London this morning, most of the leaves to the side of the roads so quite a pleasant ride in for a change.
A 40 mile Sunday ride in Surrey involved quite a lot of very slow cornering due to the huge amount of wet leaves everywhere, wasn't a great deal of fun. Just wanted to try my brother-in-law's DCT Africa Twin. It's the third time I've ridden it and still not a fan of the 'box or the overly complicated controls and screen for that matter. A bit of shame as the engine's lovely (for a parallel twin).

I’ve actively had to take action to avoid a dozy dick changing lanes without looking twice, but that’s it.
I just get pissed off riding my bike in the dark in the pissing rain. Hate it so much. Not so much being wet, just don’t like not being able to see or be seen when I’m filtering.

When a bike is filtering, of course.
Not been bad in the evenings lately as you can just sit in lanes 1 & 2 for much of the journey, passing all the s in 3 & 4.
I ride a bike and drive a truck, when the motorways are busy lanes 1 & 2 are always the fastest, with the so-called smart motorways lane speeds run in reverse, lane 1 is the fast lane. Not been bad in the evenings lately as you can just sit in lanes 1 & 2 for much of the journey, passing all the s in 3 & 4.

I had cause to ride up Park Lane today, fking mental.Last time I rode on that bit of road it was three lanes. Now you’ve got one normal lane for traffic, a bus lane and a cycle lane with a huge fk-off bit of extra long traffic island/divider/pavement thingy. Lunacy. I’ll be sticking road tyres on my WR at this rate!

Blinking annoying isn't it, there seems to be loads of small roadworks around at the moment on my ride in, almost like they are finding something to do during lockdown 2.Last time I rode on that bit of road it was three lanes. Quick one (in case I'm missing something).
I currently commute over London Bridge and go up Bishopsgate. After seeing an article about the taxi union injunction re. the Bishopsgate bus gate I'm slightly worried....I know we can go over London Bridge on a motorbike (well, we could last week) but didn't know about the Bishopsgate one which is apparently buses only - has this come into effect yet and how would you get out (can go over London bridge, but can't then go down Lombard Street, Cannon Street or Bishopsgate, effectively trapping you there?

It's a cunning plan to get people back in the City by keeping them there.I currently commute over London Bridge and go up Bishopsgate. I work at the top end of Bishopsgate and you are right, as far as I know the only thing that comes up Bishopsgate are buses now? I would suspect you would either have to head for Moorgate and come across (although you now cannot do a right at the Old St roundabout going North, yet another FU) or get across to Leman St and up Commercial Street.I currently commute over London Bridge and go up Bishopsgate. Does drive you nuts but does make the journey erm interesting

No letters have arrived, bunk I'll need to change the route and hope nothing comes through!!!
I experienced an odd issue today.
On the S1000RR, approaching a roundabout at a fairly slow speed 30-40, used the quick-shifter to go down to 2nd, got a false neutral and then it violently re-engaged on its own and hard locked the rear wheel causing me too nearly lose it on a wet off camber surface.
Never had anything like that happen before, anyone experience similar? I also thought the slipper clutch would of prevented this?

People using their phones whilst driving has been the absolute bane of my life recently, I think it's a huge contributing cause of the increase in congestion. I've lost count of the number of people watching TV on their phones whilst driving
Yeah, it's not being taken seriously at all. It's like drink driving was 30yrs ago, everyone knows it's a bit naughty but there's no shame or penalty in being caught. Needs a bit of zero tolerance, I think. Points and fine first time, 3 month ban second time, prison or long ban after that. Gassing Station | Biker Banter | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
