Agreed, it just needs to work.

Today's journey was interesting. The M26 was closed forcing everyone down the M20 to the M25. Had to filter 8 miles from Wrotham to Sidcup. The ride after that was perfect, little traffic and the traffic light gods were kind.

I join the A20 at the M25 each morning, and noticed just how incredibly light the traffic was - even compared to yesterday. I guess everyone already on the M20, as it becomes the A20, had been held up and it slowed the feed of traffic onto the section I use. Whatever, it was a lovely journey!

I also just read some more detail about the reduction of speed limit to a ridiculously slow 40mph on the A20 going the other way, where it used to change from 40 to 50 and then up to 70, is indeed temporary. Works are due to start mid-2024 apparently. Link here:

Thought my CBF500 being difficult to turn in was partly due to the weight of the camping gear this weekend. Yesterdays commute to the office showed that was a lie. Bridgestone T32s getting quite squirrely on over banding, think the rear is squared off a bit as well. First time coming home from work in proper daylight though which is a bonus

Nice day today, weather was dry and warmish..

Drivers all behaved themselves..

Got all green lights...

Really quite concerned... hehe

I did notice a slight misting on my right fork when I parked up but as I have a rebuild kit sitting waiting to be used, I'm not too fussed..

Enjoyed the ride in today as it felt mildly spring like.

But... On the way home the scooter died 2 miles from the office so had to call the AA out for the first time in 8 years. Did contemplate pushing it.. Don't buy a cheap commuter sthorse and expect it to be remotely reliable!

This mp3 was a bad idea. I could have bought something half decent and Japanese for the amount I've spent in the last month. I only bought it as I needed something under a grand to enter a charity ride this summer.

AA man charged the brand new battery to get me to the garage that sorted the immobiliser issue last month. If it's the stator it's an engine out job and likely curtains for the mp3 so hope the battery is at fault or at worse the rectifier is goosed.

An engine out job? Blimey, that’s a bit irritating. When I did mine on my Triumph it took under an hour, and most of that was me being inexperienced and thus super-cautious. If it fails again, I’ll probably be buttoning up the cover in little more than half that time.

But think how great it will be when it's sorted! I am going for regulator rectifier, which is probably under the seat.

Thanks, the workshop manual does say it's an engine out job too but I found a video on YouTube showing it being done with the engine in. Will see.

Hope it is the rectifier as that's located at the back of the bike under one of the side panels is relatively easy to get to.

I'm getting really annoyed at the weather apps.

I have Accuweather (which seems to be ok 80% of the time), Met Office, BBC Weather and the one that comes with the Samsung as standard.
I don't need to ride the bike to work, I have a company car so it's a treat and I try to avoid wet weather if I can help it. The amount of times I've got on the bike for a "dry" ride to work and been drenched is really quite irritating.

It's all part of the fun if I go out on the weekends and head to Wales or something. But it would be nice to have a reliable weather app that was accurate.

Had to explain to my missus that L plates mean nothing on a bike. People see L plates on a car and the assumption is that the driver is a learner, the majority of L plated bikes around here (London suburbs) are either people who are commuting or kids flying around so noone will give you any leeway. She's having fun though, she rode to work yesterday with a mate following on his bike and then rode back home on her own. cool

A really good app for this is RainToday - worth a look.

Thanks

just piss wet through base layers knickers socks

2nd time in two weeks - all zips etc secure and dwr spayed on so there is something fundamentally wrong
going to wash it at the w/e and see but if its fked I’ll just go cheap and cheerful

pointless trying to claim and I have to buy something while it was away being tested

“its waterproof sir, just not at motorway speeds in high wind and rain”

its MTM and it cost a lot more than f_kka in the end

I like Wunderground, the short term forecast is usually pretty accurate.

I don't know how but I managed to miss ANY rain on the way in this morning - perks of being into the office for 0545 I guess. Even the ride home wasn't 'raining' I just ended up wet from all the road spray... no doubt my rides tomorrow will be miserable though knowing my luck!

Over in New York this week working in our office and I'm actually missing my normal bike commute. It's lovely and sunny if a trifle cold but the only bikes you ever see are crap Chinese electric food delivery jobbies.

That’s ok, I took one for the team… even managed to get into trouble off a L plated 125cc for ‘riding too fast in the rain’ and being ‘a maniac’…

Nice to be able to contribute to this topic. Passed my DAS last August and I’ve commuted in around 15/20 times (need to drive mostly due to tools).

I come in from Chatham and can be anywhere in London but today I’m just off regent street, 1:20ish minutes today which I still can’t quite believe! Especially as it’s a 2.5hr in the van!

My partner can’t believe i set an alarm for 6:30 and still get to work for 8:30.

I had similar on Tuesday - going to a 0930 job interview. Mostly been WFH and not in London any more, filtering here in Scotland to London standards gets people a bit excited biggrin - if I get the gig the people of Clydebank are going to have to get used to me!
