So Kahn () has announced the "toxicity charge" today, starting in the autumn.
Looks like my mike will be well and truly rogered by it :/
From my initial read it looks to operate at C charge times so 7am - 6pm, morning isn't a problem as I'm in before 7am but in the event I actually manage to get away at a decent time does anybody know who manufactures velcro I can attach the number plate with securely yet allow easy removal?

So well the bike cut out another 5 times on the ride home last night, seemed to cough then flash a red light and then cut out with dieing revs immediately after. Thankfully always able to restart whilst rolling - still a. It annoying, also not stable at constant/under 4K rpm.
Going to take a proper look tomorrow - have a new tensioner, Oil and filter to go on as well as the slip on (maybe it's an exhaust pressure issue?)

Nice good as new looking bike to ride this morning having cleaned and chain lubed at the weekend; and sweet new RX7-V lid - which IS a lot quieter than my old Corsair (although there is a bigger gap around the ears which leads to some air movement there... hope my ears don't get cold and fall off next winter...). And clear dry roads.. Sweet ride.

Well considering going in on the train tomorrow, bike is running that badly!
Seems like it permanently bogged down/misfiring, it cut out 4 times on the ride home and is just not right. Have left a message with a friend's bike mechanic but had no reply, considering just bunging it into MH in Bromley to get sorted but the list is so comprehensive I fear for my wallet!

They say there's a first time for everything. Today was the first time in 20 years, on & off, of commuting into London that I got knocked off.
Lee High Road, by the Vauxhall garage, car in front of me indicates to turn left, I go round the car to continue along Lee High Rd, woman in Golf assumes that since the car she can see is turning, she can pull out to turn right, despite the presence of a 1200RT piloted by a 6'4 rider in a full hi-viz vest and a fluoro Arai.
Was only about 15-20 mph. I hit the front corner of her car which in turn knocked me over onto the RH side, so the bike is damaged on both sides, although not that badly. Mostly cosmetic/crash bars/head protectors, although one of the headers has an egg-sized dent in it. Rode it in, it did seem to be backfiring on overrun, not sure if that’s related.
I’m 99% OK except for, ironically, there is a gap between the top of my boot and the bottom of my knee armour, and I’ve had a whack there, which is pretty sore but not too big.
Plenty of other bikers stopped to help, and a woman on a bike behind me gave me her card as a witness.
Got up and rode the rest of the way to work, trying to work out what I could/should have done differently. Not gone around the car, I guess, although don’t we all do that several hundred times a day when commuting? She did seem to come out of nowhere. Not sure how that one goes on insurance.
Ah well! At least I didn’t crash head-on into the police car on blues & twos the previous night who was coming flat out at me on the wrong side of the dual carriageway in Deptford by the DLR!

Was there agreement of blame? I am guessing you will get the blame, despite the fact we all do it. An unfortunate event, nonetheless. Oh bad luck. My personal opinion - you did nothing wrong here. All vehicles must check their way is clear before pulling out of a junction. She took a chance and wasn't thinking about bikes. You were well within your rights to carry on down your carriageway.
And you have a witness statement which can go a long way.

Nightmare, what time this morning? - used to pass that junction daily but was never much traffic movement from it at my time of day

Just my 2p, as you were carrying on down the carriageway, not overtaking or filtering as the car in front had turned in blame should fall 100% on the car emerging from the junction IMO

This is from a 'what could I have done', not insurance POV.I think you made a mistake, but it is also a mistake which almost everybody makes from time to time. Overtaking past a junction, you can expect vehicles to pull out. With a turning car in front of you, the drivers view of you would have been partially obscured and your view of the driver would have been partially obscured. You do say she came out of nowhere, so even if you saw the other vehicle it didn't really register. 15-20mph is a fair speed to be passing a car at a junction. OK, lecture over. It's still something which everyone does and if you have been commuting in London for 20 years and this is the first thing which has happened you must be doing something right.
