Some c¥"*$ have tried to nick my bike
Discussion
Isn't the tmax the most nicked scooter in london atm with all these scrote moped gangs on the loose? Honestly speaking having seen the videos of them trying to lift ducatis in briad daylight out of places like berkely square I'd sadly say it is a question of when not if a bike gets nicked these days. Given they seem quite prepared to go at it with angle grinders I don't think there is any security bar a small block of semtex and a detonator that will discourage the little sts.
Just read this start to finish as I couldn't sleep, OP I genuinely feel for you. I did wonder where the thread was going, unfortunately it was going to happen.
It amazes me how brazen they are in I presume broad daylight as to cut down a sign post.
And infuriates me that modern day society no one said anything, someone would have se3n it happening and turned a blind eye.
Exactly why i avoid the Capital at all costs.

Sympathies OP, that's a horrible situation.
Film it and put it on youtube, still a bit risky, but even then you probably won't get much response.

Problem is there aren't enough coppers to be able to respond quickly enough, and as a member of the public what do you do? I'm not going to get an angle grinder in the face just for someone else's bike. And infuriates me that modern day society no one said anything, someone would have se3n it happening and turned a blind eye.

Is a low value motorbike less likely to be stolen than a scooter?
What I've read suggest that high value bikes and scooters are the most at risk?
the scooters are then used for further theft - so they don't want something with gears and clutch to managed whilst they snatch a mobile phone?

The thing is, it's really proved that you can't have a decent bike without it getting nicked, if you have to park on the street.
Most bikes get nicked cos idiots use a £10.99 oxford products chain which I could open with my dick, or a disclock made of oxford special cheese. I made sure they couldn't get mine by using multiple decent locks, but I was limited by what I could lock it to. On the street it's pot luck if a lamppost is available between cars, on this occasion it wasn't. Can't park on pavement as you get a parking ticket! fking s.
Until councils take it fking seriously and provide plentiful proper bays with major ironwork to lock to, bike theft is going to continue running at over a 1500 a month, and using them to commit over 50,000 crimes a year.

There's an epidemic as the scrotes have realised they can get their hands on free money.

Genuinely can't understand why you still live there/in London.
OK, I'm late responding to this one, but here's some reasons that people don't move.Stamp duty, it can be a couple of hundred thousand pounds to move.
Work, I work a few minutes from home, and so have a short commute.
Environment, I live near wonderful restaurants and bars, in a beautiful flat on the waterfront. I don't want to live out of the centre of town yet.
I've had several scooters stolen, and it's utterly infuriating, but £4K a year for a new one is not even vaguely enough of an issue to make me up sticks and leave town.
I lived in commuterville once, and absolutely hated it.

Surely it doesn't cost 4k a year if you use insurance?Stamp duty, it can be a couple of hundred thousand pounds to move.

Sorry, I didn't mean live elsewhere and work in London. I meant just not be near London at all...! Stamp duty, it can be a couple of hundred thousand pounds to move.
