Weather was spectacular this morning but too much salt on the roads for the road bikes. Jumped on the Husqvarna TXC 250 instead:

Silecroft Beach

Fell Green, Bootle

Corney Fell

Wasdale

Birker Fell

Back to Corney Fell and home

Nice pics Dan, it is a beautiful part of the world, too bloody cold for me to be riding bikes yet.

Gawd, I am still feeling cold. Only fell off once, and dropped it 3 times. Really glad I started with a smaller bike.

That looks fantastic. No lights though - is it daylight MoT only?

Yup, daylight only. Just registered it for road as well. Process was really easy: filled out V55, sent in Certificate of Conformance, MoT and some identification documents. A week later I got notification, and few days after that a V5.

David, will PM you my contact info. When they stop salting I am definitely up for some ride-outs. Maybe a session at Oulton in the Spring as well?

Come on you lot - put a blob of grease on all your fasteners, ACF50 on everything else, & rinse your steed when you get home!

Great photos Dan. Wish I had that sort of riding on my doorstep. Almost compensates for the northern weather

The east side is better than the west in this regard. Both knock spots off the overcrowded south-east where I currently work in the week. The locals in the fatory are all complaining about the immigrants coming and taking their jobs, I beg to differ. It's Yorkshiremen. biggrin

Looks amazing. These pictures have rekindled my dwindling want (or need?) for a enduro bike.

That's really interesting. I have noticed non road going CRF's and the like are much cheaper to buy than the road ready versions.

Can I just buy one of these get a certificate of conformity and register?

Where would one get the cert' of conformity?

Cheers

Yep, chassis number, call manufacturer ask for relevant documents, complete V55 and send to DVLA with documents, get that back in several weeks, take to MOT station, MOT, tax, and insure.

Legally you need the road going kit as well for the MOT and riding on the road - horn, speedo, and reflector.

And if you want to use at dusk/evening/night - indicators, front, and rear lights.

Speedo's are not checked during MOT, but legally you require this on the road.

Non-road going bikes also appear to have smaller fuel tanks as well, than their road going equivalents, and different gearing.

You will also need "E" registered road going tyres for the road and MOT.

But, only if you are caught.

https://www.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploa...

It appears it is easier to buy ones already registered and MOT'd, or if buying new get the vendor to put it through for you.

I looked into it after discovering the same thing.
