Ditched BT broadband last week as we got 100Mb/s fibre installed. The unanticipated consequence of this was that BT now want to charge me £22 odd to watch the BT sport channels. Told them to stick it but now I won't be able to watch motogp and I haven't missed a race for years so that's now sinking in. Do I have any alternatives or do I have to go back to them and give them money.

I have installed kodi recently but don't know much about how it's configured. If anyone has any advice how I can watch live or preferably recorded races it would be much appreciated. PM me if you'd prefer not to post on here.

Many thanks,

Mark

I tried it on Kodi and it was very frustrating as you either get a very poor quality or it freezes...it did my head in so i gave up watching it and just catch up on highlights.

Wow, that's expensive. I'll watch BSB instead.

Just ask a mate who likes that football malarkey... they can share BT Sport log in details.

Remember to buy them a pint from time to time smile

I know two people who use this method via family members to watch live via a tablet.

I personally get btsport heavily discounted (since its not actually free in real terms anymore) with bt infinity, I choose to pay a small amount every month to get BT Sport HD channels by choice on my Sky HD box - only the SD ones are technically the almost but no longer free ones thrown in.

That what I was doing but switched from Infinity as for us it was crap and went from an unreliable 8Mb/s to a very reliable 100Mb/s. Just didn't realise BT would then try to charge me 22 quid to keep watching. The bds even charged me £30 to disconnect even though I was out of contract.

The only mate I have who *really* likes the football downloads it illegally from christ knows where.

Google how to install mobdro. That streams all channels, quality not the best but I find it far quicker to use than kodi etc.

I have a Chromecast & BT sport app on my phone. My BT sport subscription is £2.50/month for HD using this method. They keep trying to 'upgrade' me to BTTV box, but BT sport is only in SD, & they have said upgrading to HD would be a further £10/month. Very strange...

It is actually the cheapest money I spend on entertainment because it allows me to watch every session, including most tests, whenever I want, with no adverts at all. Loads of interviews to watch and maximum geekery if you want to hear all the wibble at the press conferences etc... This season, they are giving away the multiscreen option at the standard price, with that you can pick the screen layout e.g. have a chosen on-board cam as pic-in-pic on the main screen.
+1

The only prob I have is their streaming / server setup isn´t nearly good enough, very often drops down to poor bit rates, and is sometimes stuttery - I´ve subbed since the beeb lost the deal and not one single race (live) have I had a pure & steady uninterrupted HD experience. This year they've started to broadcast 1080, but that´s a joke - they can hardly get 720 out. But, it´s the only option I have...

If you're on EE, you can get access to the BT Sport App for £5 per month. It you want to watch it on the big screen, then you could use Chromecast to do that. With EE, the first 3 months are free if you haven't yet signed up.

I stopped paying for BT sport a couple years ago, but I do like to watch Motogp. So watch it for "free" on CH5HD. Just need to keep away from the forums or news

Could it be your network or internet? On virgin, by any chance? I assume you have seen the optional players/streams available when you are watching it live? Give them a shout (if you can find the email on the site).
I don't think the BT infinity routers are very good. I swapped to sky a while ago and have far better internet performance (despite it being the same fibre line).

BTsport is expensive. But as well as MotoGP I watch some football and UFC so overall it's not so bad. I guess if you're only watching one it's much worse. I've streamed on a tablet and it's ok, but again, with fast and detailed sports like MotoGP, it's worth something to watch on a big screen with good definition.
