I'm trying to talk myself out of adding a 300 Win Mag to the collection, and not doing a very good job at it... Hmmmm, heads over to Guntrader....
If you buy another rifle and the zombie apocalypse doesn't kick off you still have a nice rifle.

If you don't buy another rifle and the zombie apocalypse does kick off you're fked!

Best you buy another rifle, better safe than sorry smile

5ohm, can you linkey to a good backpack for taking your gun to the range on a bike?

Obv this will be in the UK, so it can't look like you are carrying a gun to casual observers as interception by a police armed response unit isn't compatible with the relaxation obtained from a nice day's riding and shooting.
What is the firearm and length? I can take a look when I get a moment.

The shortest will be the MP5 which is 26 inches overall. The longest will be the 308 with suppressor which I haven't bought yet, but that could be a 20 inch barrel plus 7 or so inches of suppressor, so pretty long.

The molle rifle scabbard-back packs look pretty obvious as they are usually molle.

With an MP5, I'm sure it will fit in a regular backpack, especially if you have a folding or a collapsible stock.

As for the 308, if the suppress or is threaded to the choke, I would unscrew it. I would then put the rifle in a large zip lock bag (available from cheaper than dirt) Then put that inside a motorcycle duffle bag lengthways across the bike. Most should not protrude past the side cases. With AR15s all you have to do pop out the two pins to separate the upper and lower receiver.

Sportsman's guide, cheaper than dirt, Midway USA, have a lot of rifle bags that would work, but most guns will fit in a full size motorcycle, waterproof duffle.

Can your particular 308 be taken down?

I love both. One should not take place of the other.

Here is my Walther pps 40s&w on my Strom.

Before moving into my current property where I shoot my rifles out back, I used to ride into the free ranges in the mountains with a gunslinger back pack on, fits an Ar15 with a collapsible stock.

That's just surreal, I can't imagine living in a hostile country where you need to carry a firearm when going for a quick ride.

Air rifles are often on the short side, due to the different physics involved, but I know of a few people that put their rifle in a slip then put that in a soft guitar bag to transport. Personally I wouldn't want the risk of coming off with a gun on my bike. Not the risk of damage, more the risk of what happens to the gun if I'm injured or unconscious, and accounting for the ammunition if it gets scattered. I'd rather not wake up to a FAO's H&K pointed at me after hitting a patch of drev.

www.liveleak.com search "hood" for why, or "Brazilian off duty" for how to deal with it.

First result that came up was a woman giving herself an abortion with a hammer. There's some sick crap on that site.

Not too long ago there was a guy from advrider who was touring Mexico and vanished.

They found his dismembered body buried next to his bike.

Back to the thread topic.

I'm doing my oil change on the Strom today, I'll try to take some pics of my rifle in proportion to the width of the bike and side cases.

Are the take down versions of the Ruger 10/22 legal in the UK?

Yes you can get takedown 10/22s in the UK. I think the accuracy has gotta be a bit less than a regular 10/22 though.

Good news, I'd get it.

You reckon it's less accurate due to movement between the 2 sections?
As you can see my rifle will fit across my Vstrom 1000 with saddle bags (collapsed.)

I use a waterproof first gear 70 duffle bag.

If you really wanted to transport a long rifle you cannot break down, I reckon a large North Face Base Camp would fit.

As you probably know AR15's take 2 seconds to separate the upper and lower receiver.

At some point in the future I will get a Tavor with the short barrel.

If your interested in my rifle, it is a LWRC (Ferrari of AR15s) M6 5.56. Piston driven, not gas impinged like most AR's. Excellently engineered and the finest build quality. I'd take it over an M4/M16. My wife loves shooting it, very accurate and low recoil.

Nutnfancy did a good review of it:
