Hi all,
New to the forum so hi all. I have been offered a ZX7 RR K1 Scott Russell Replica. It also has a signed tank by Scott Russell. Its only done 13,000 Miles...but hard ones. Aftermarket can. Ohlins shock, carbon rear sets (Apparently the chap says they were scott russels but not sure of that) .Steering damper attached to the frame as standard. Bike runs well. Needs some serious TLC.

Suffice to say it needs love. Needs a complete respray and bodywork repairing or replacing ideally. I tried posting a pic but it keeps saying the fiole is too large, not sure what the issue is there its like 81kb Jpeg.

My questions are as follows:
- Is there such a think as a ZX7RR K1 Scott Russell Replica? Or has this chap just taken a ZX7RR and made it look like a Scott Russell bike? (Likely me thinks)
- Any ideas on where to get a completely new set of panels, front rear and cowl. (And indicators and pipe for that matter)
- What you recon its worth..taking into consideration the work needed. Needs to be completely stripped down and cleaned bit by bit.

Appreciate any suggestions. I am a Honda, Norton and Triumph rider normally and whilst I have had old ZXR's the RR range I am new too but I want something limited run which is why I am going after an RR.

Cheers

For one that's a zxr750 not a zx7rr, provided you are in the U.K. Of course

I can't remember there being a Scott Russell replica. I'm no expert on Kawasaki's though.

If the bike is good beneath all those stickers and paint and... it's a good price and you want a modified bike then go for it

Yes, after some digging it looks like to be a 1992 ZXR 750 R. K1.

They were made in limited numbers but not sure about the Scott Russel Replica thing.

That looks like a bike with a load of gash tat stuck on.

Do a quick google. Looks nothing like it.

Agreed. UK or not, a real RR should have an adjustable swing arm pivot for starters.
Make sure you're not being mugged off and sold a normal, scruffy bike with BS provenance to bump the price up....

He did race a ZXR750 (J/K type model) before the ZX-7R, although I think all models were ZX-7 named in US where Muzzy was based.

Is that not a P model?

If the bike is silly cheap I'd be tempted just for a bit of cheap fun.

Check the frame number it should be something like ZX750 J (or K if homologation special) I think the adjustable swing arm pivot came in on the M so could be correct. A K will have an alloy tank if original with an exposed weld seam on its lower edge along with flatside carbs
I am not aware of any official Scott Russell reps and this bike pre dates his WSB title if its a J/K as he won it in 1993 on a ZX750 M as shown in the other pics. Looks a lash up to me. An untidy but complete J is not worth loads, £1K max on a good day. A pukka K however is a different story and worth considerably more.

IanG1 is correct about the adjustable swingarm pivot, appeared on Ms. I have a 91 ZXR750R-K1 and that one will either be a J1/2 or a K1/2. The paint, polished frame and rearsets are all non factory. Visible Differences between the Js and Ks are:

Front forks have compression adjustment just below brake calipers on Ks. They are also 41mm, 43 on the J.
Alloy tank with visible seam welds as mentioned on Ks
12500 redline on Ks versus 12000 on Js.
Remote Rear shock reservoir on Ks, visible under tail unit on nearside.
39mm Keihin FCR flatslide carbs on Ks, 38mm Mikuni CVs on Js

Hope that helps and Id say £3000ish would be about right for a rough K, £1000ish if its a J
