Michael was down in 6th before the stoppage and swapped the whole rear shock in the down time which, IMHO, they shouldn't be allowed to do.
Hiller changed loads of suspension settings, Hicky replaced his slipping clutch, everyone tweaked and fettled. It's fair as it is available to all. Same as they can make changes at pitstops too.

Felt for Hicky at first as he was flying but like you said he changed a slipping clutch so maybe wouldn't have podiumed if it had continued anyway. Deffo a great ty=turnaround m=by MD and he admittedly said they got a second bite at the cherry and it paid off. he could have changed things for the worse to. Same for everyone at teh end of teh day some you win some you loose. great racing

That was outrageous that he stayed on that! But notice, he landed on it, legs all off, a split second of "WTF" then back on it!! Hero!
Not sure if this will work but to put in to perspective what would have happened if he hadn't held it, here is the street view link

It depends how he gets flicked off the bike, it is possible he'd have just left a 300m leather and poo stain all down the white line. Or he may have ended up in that guy's porch!

You're right that they can change stuff during pit stops but that of course is included in their times. That's kind of what feels wrong to me I suppose - almost unlimited time to fettle the bike which they wouldn't have if the race wasn't stopped. I know you're right though, they all have that option and it'll always suit some more than others.

Now announced -with photo evidence, that hutch came off as a result of a front puncture.

Makes sense as that was a very strange place to drop it

Yeah was picture below, probably fortunate( not sure that's the right word) it was here rather than else where more built up on the course.

Bit of an update on my 2017 IOM adventure

I put a couple mountain runs (only managed 3 due to the crap weather most of the time there unfortunately) up on YouTube and was contacted by the BBC this morning asking for my consent on the footage to be shown

They are doing a documentary on the emergency services, the IOM itself and the racing so the email says so I have given my consent asking for a acknowledgement that they came from me

He said he would email nearer the time on the dates it is to be broadcasted so I will put the link up all being well for anyone thats interested
