Reports in Italian media say that it was a "head on" crash with Hayden heading toward Riccione, with a 30 yr old driver who was uninjured. But it was head on at a crossroads, so whether that was head on or side one, (eg at crossroads) who knows.

It is quite odd that there's been little said about the nature of accident in mainstream media and from damage to bike I had assumed he was struck from behind.

Hope he pulls through. A very good friend of mine was in an accident with a van on his scooter. Drs put him in an induced coma and so far as I'm aware he's come out the other side if not perfect, but much, much better than we feared at the time.
