A very sad day, a very genuine modest guy.

What a shame.
Gutted.
It never ceases to amaze me how many bike/car racers take huge risks all their careers and then end up getting snuffed out or severely injured in relatively 'safe' activity's:-

Nicky Hayden - cycling
Steve Hislop - helicopter crash
Michael Schumacher - skiing
Colin McRae - Helicopter
Mike Hailwood - RTC

Ah yes good point, how could I forget Colin. I was in the Virgin lounge at Gatwick and saw it on the news before starting a holiday.

RIP Nicky. A great rider with an amazing style, this guy is certainly not going to be forgotten. A real World Champion at the very highest level. His name is stamped on that piece of Championship history forever. The Hayden's are a great racing family, I'm so sorry for their loss.

st news, but expected. The damage on that car, it is surprising it wasn't instantaneous.

Poor Nicky. And to all his family and loved ones, my condolences.

Very first thing I thought of just now when I heard. Shame the swear filter can't be lifted at times like this, then I could repeat my immediate reaction, which was, simply, "F uck"
