Fireblade burned leg syndrome
Discussion
I had a run out today in full kit as always, stopped off for a fag brake in full leathers sweating like fook and thinking who in the right mind would be standing in a layby with full leathers smoking a fag in todays heat
On the way home I spotted a guy taking his time in shorts and tea shirt and thought I wish I had the balls or the stupidity to do that , not sure which one it is but I might try it one day. Where not talking full on 200 mile run out on a Sunday morning but just a short trip over to see folks .

Its nothing to do with common sense. Common sense would be if I tried to claim that coming off without full safety gear would NOT result in more injury.
That would not be common sense, it would be ignorance or denial. An example of common sense would be using protective clothing to mitigate the obviously increased chance of injury that comes with riding a bike. Common sense: not very common apparently.

OR, riding in such a way that the requirement for especially protective clothing is reduced. By your rationale, one would never leave the house. Common sense: not very common apparently.
My 2013 does get warm in traffic, though I think the main thing that makes it feel hotter on the RHS than the left is the fact the main fan kicks in on the right first. That will nicely warm up any body part on that side of the bike, clothed or not.
What temp is the bike running at normally? If a bit hot, not beyond the realms of possibility that the fan is kicking in and staying on longer than normal, exacerbating that toasty feeling.
And yes, you can feel the heat more in chinos than you can leathers, so I'd imagine shorts even more so. But I don't think it is from the exhaust specifically on that vintage 'blade, in my experience. The can on mine while warm is never radiating heat, and the rest of the exhaust is tucked away underneath and so not really that close to your legs. Think what you're feeling is coming from the engine and the front of the bike, headers, etc...

When in full leathers on the hottest days you need open your vents and ride faster! On the way home I spotted a guy taking his time in shorts and tea shirt and thought I wish I had the balls or the stupidity to do that , not sure which one it is but I might try it one day. You lot dont know what heat is all about until you've ridden a Panigale round town in the summer.
You've got nothing. My 1098R sterilised me in an afternoon. I could literally hear my offspring vaporising. I must say 954 gets hot real quick, but I've never experienced anything worse than a Panigale.

Exactly. Enough sanctimonious bullst please. You're not talking to a 16 year olds here.
In any event, since everyone seems dead set on talking about everything in the world except whether they have the same problem and what they did or did not do to mitigate it, I'll presume that no one has anything constructive to contribute and I'll move on.
Simple answer is don't ride a '14 'blade in town with shorts on, there is no solution, apart from buying an R1 and toasting your nuts instead In any event, since everyone seems dead set on talking about everything in the world except whether they have the same problem and what they did or did not do to mitigate it, I'll presume that no one has anything constructive to contribute and I'll move on.
Ducati , SE Asia , Summertime 40 degrees plus , 90 degree humidity , sitting in traffic gets hot with full textile gear on. However seen too many road rash injuries , so I'm quite happy to be bit warm.
And some complaining on here of a few tepid days of a UK summer getting a bit toastie ! Man up

Yeah, it is sometimes cooler to seemingly rug up, as the ambient temperature and sun seem hotter on bare skin than under a jacket. Cool max or satin type liners in a parka makes it bearable. I do remember riding in traffic in Melbourne (Australia) on what is known as Black Saturday and it was 46 degrees. I was on my 999R and it was rather uncomfortable with the exhaust heat roasting my leg through my jeans.
