How you getting on with yours OP?

Thought you may like to see this 125 which I snapped at a local meet on Wednesday, was absolutely stunning.

I believe the owner also has this 200 as well.

Would love either in my garage.

I started off on an RD50E (with TY80 barrel & piston) and then had the 125, 200, 250 and finally the 400. I absolutely loved them all, although the 400 loved to lift the front wheel a little too readily. So much fun though and I ran Allspeeds on all of them. Opening up the reed stops, Boysen reeds and slightly bigger jets meant a bit more go and rear sets and flat bars.

Nostalgia hitting hard.

Such a lovely bike OP. I've always loved 2 strokes and the RD range were some of the best.

Bike still fab, but not ridden much lately, partly because I have been mad busy at work or Festivaling at Latitude, and partly because of my newer toy, viz:-

PS: I want an RD 400, I think. The RD Facebook Group has some bikes for sale.

Me too.

There are some gorgeous 400's for sale right now.

I used to have a Stan Stephens tuned X7 with a 280 kit and Microns. A real screamer. I'd love to own it now.

There's no such thing as a fast Morini but some are less slow than others...

I am too old and rubbish for fast, and 90 on a bike is plenty fast enough for me. Morinis also handle beautifully and this one stops as well as it has three discs.

It is a 350 Sport with a two into one exhaust, and a Strada riding position for old gits.

I've always liked the idea of a Morini since reading the above article, such inoffensive motorcycles. smile

Both as equally important nowadays!

Nice bike mate, they are always talked/written about with affection , would love a punt on one to see what they feel like to ride.

Re the dressing up, this is always a handy reminder for the middle aged biker -

Sounds like the spec of this.

I thought I was replying to you Mark, in my first reply to the OP at the start of this thread (I'll ask again, is the new retro coffee van on Castle Drive anything to do with you, or the Bedford CF Ice-cream van?).

Not far off. Mine had a 2/4 seat and fibreglass mudguard, with Mel le Moto rear sets and flat bars.

No idea re the CF etc. I do like them though.

Arrrgh! I think that I have water in my fuel tank. The bike starts, but loses power and cuts out every few minutes. I will try draining the tank, but assume that I should also check the carbs. any other suggestions? Cheers.

You can drain the carbs, should be little drain screws or allen bolts on the bottom. Do you run inline fuel filters at all? If not, most likely some fine rust from tank gradually blocking jets up. May need to remove carbs, clean them all out (get a carb jet file tool from ebay etc, they are ace), and clean them all up. Limescale remover is good if the fuel float bowl inners are crusty. Then fit some inline filters!! (Ask me how I know this, as an owner of a near 50 yr old Jap classic!!).

Sorry to hear. Wish I had the cash or else I'd take it in an instant.
