You might want to reconsider the courtesy element. The are plenty of teams out there who will be running all season and as you know the club paddock is a friendly place. Anyone punting someone of a lesser ability off the track, or being particularly discourteous could face official as well as unofficial sanction.
Where did I ever say “punting someone off”? rolleyes

On a track day standing someone up mid corner isn’t allowed. In a race it’s fair game. As a result you might mess up the other person’s lap but that doesn’t really matter, all you’re bothered about is getting past them as quickly as possible. It’s selfish but I expect it to be done to me so it’s fair game
I didn’t mean it like that. It’s easy to make a tough pass on someone of a lesser ability and scare them into standing the bike up and run on. It might not be deliberate, but can happen. The thing to remember is that you won’t be the fastest out there and someone could respond in kind. You’ll be overtaken / lapped a few times while you’re out doing your stints

I’m not saying I will be the fastest but I certainly will be aiming not to lose any time getting past people, and I expect the people coming past me to do the same. If anyone doesn’t like that I suggest they stick to track days

My guess was Adam Jenkinson and Jonny Blackshaw .....
Well , I hope you’re paying them handsomely George , but tbh mate it doesn’t really ring of the spirit of the occasion - granted all comers may take part and it is a non Championship round so whatever happens you’re venture won’t fk up the championship even if “ you /yours” do end up punting someone off in the quest for glory .....
Make sure you bring a gum shield with you if you do me or one of ours though and you’ve set yourself up with it all to lose from the off ....
Hahaha - loving it , banter in the cold grim icy mist of January waaaay pre-season ! Love it - right , training to be done , draught Peroni won’t drink itself - fare well !
whistle
No quest for glory, just a few mates going for a bit of fun! But why not aim for the top whilst we’re doing it biggrin

Enjoy the Peroni, make sure to bring plenty for after the 8 hours thumbup
If it's anything like the 1000km race, it'll be a lot of fun and we'll have a laugh. Be good to see some of the BSB stars on the track too, as normally we're limited to Tom Tunstal and Rick Dickinson in the Endurance rounds, who although race in BSB, are rarely a the front
All in jest , as Georgie knows ( we’re pals really !) will be good to see you Graeme , George and to catch up with Adam again - not seen much of him last couple of years and liost touch a bit , and God help us all re Sat. night now I know Ross is joining the party !
Can’t wait ! biggrin

The endurance racing is a little different in that respect, as they'll penalise you if you make the sort of hard overtakes that you would in spirit racing multiple times. Unlike in sprints, where you can stand people up mid corner and push them wide if it's 'your line', they can apply time penalties for 'discourteous riding' and they do if you do it repeatedly or are seen as being too aggressive. Personally, I think that's just part of racing, but as there's so many teams of mixed abilities, they can be quite hard on it, and I've seen a couple of riders receive a 'chat' in the pit box at the end of a stint and told to buck their ideas up or face a time penalty

Just to let those who raced in the 1000km at Donny last year know, you have to advise No Limits that you’re entering this year’s race before 5pm tonight. There’s no payment needed yet, but if you don’t let them know then you’re in with the general sales and priority entry has been lost.

Thanks for that - appreciated, missed this in communications ( hadn't looked !).

Team 113 are back on that. Got the mail from Toni yesterday
I can't see it selling out overnight as the 1000km still had team slots available up to around 2 weeks out

I think by making it a non-championship round and open tyres they’re hoping to sell out a bit more easily this time round. Plus there’s likely to be a reasonably large SS1000 contingent there by all accounts.

We've got a reserved entry just like you guys, so looking forward to it. Not having a Pirelli control tyre is a great move for me, and will save me a small fortune too smile
I now know of another team that's there to win it if they enter, and they're 1:30-33 guys, so they'll be the ones to beat I reckon
Either way, be cool to share the track some really good racers

Surely running 1.30s they are in BSB, not SS 1000? Who is it Graeme?

Wouldn’t surprise me if a few did join in for a bit of practice from the very top level.

Apparently you’d be so slow, you’d finish four hours behind everyone else in an 8 hour race.

Off to Bahrain tonight for the next round of the Bahrain 600cc championship. I think I am only looking after 5 bikes tomorrow.
