Can I ask, as a ball park figure how much do you think this years racing has cost?
I am flirting with the idea of some amateur racing on a CB500 in Thundersport but I am wary of costs.
If you've not done so already, join the facebook ThundersportGB group, and the CB500 Thundersport group. They'd be best placed to give info.I am flirting with the idea of some amateur racing on a CB500 in Thundersport but I am wary of costs.

Entry fees and testing(some full days, some half days)- about £3000I am flirting with the idea of some amateur racing on a CB500 in Thundersport but I am wary of costs.
Tyres, last longer on a CB500 than a supersport bike, and cheaper, so for me, about- £1650. I've bought a new set of wets. And I buy a new rear each round, and front every second round.
Fuel for bike and to/from circuit. £500 ish
Food and drink. - take your own rather than pay at circuits.
Any spares etc for crash damage.
On a CB500, all in, maybe do it for less than £5k.

Full grids all year and usually splits into three races as oversubscribed, single day so cheaper and if you’re local you can do it in a day without having to stop overnight. Downside is only one circuit, but I’m using it as a benchmark to see where I can improve.

If you want a slightly cheaper entrance into racing/CB’s you could do a season at EMRA, that’s what I did this year.

Seconded. I did a round with EMRA. 2 classes for £200. Ok, it's one day, and 4 almost back to back races had me dripping with sweat at the end, but it's good value for sure.Full grids all year and usually splits into three races as oversubscribed, single day so cheaper and if you’re local you can do it in a day without having to stop overnight. Yesterday was my last race of the year up at Oulton with NG.
Test day was soaking all day, and then yesterday was wet/dry/wet/dry/wet/dry repeat
After a couple of large moments in the two morning qualifiers, I decided to call it a day and put my back in the van.
Not an ideal end to the season, but I just wasn't feeling it and after crashing at Donington three weeks ago when I really didn't want to ride, I told myself that next time I wasn't feeling it I'd just call it a day for that race rather than risking smashing up my bike and myself again.
Had a good year though, and picked up some silverware with a few 2nds and 3rds. No wins this year, but generally went a lot faster at all tracks than I did in 2018, and had lots of laughs along the way.

Our season end is up there on the 20th. Hoping for better conditions than you had. I saw pics and videos...yikes. Not an ideal end to the season for sure.Test day was soaking all day, and then yesterday was wet/dry/wet/dry/wet/dry repeat

Having seen the forecast and then seen what actually happened on Friday / Sat I didn’t envy you one bit. Makes sense not to ride if your gut is telling you not to. Crap way to end the season though.
I’m out in a fortnight for the last round of our season up at Croft. Possibly my last ever race, so hoping to go out on a high, but not expecting much in reality, other than to hold onto 4th place in the championship in the endurance.

You giving up racing after this year Si ?I’m out in a fortnight for the last round of our season up at Croft. Possibly my last ever race, so hoping to go out on a high, but not expecting much in reality, other than to hold onto 4th place in the championship in the endurance.

Yeah, think so. I can’t really commit to a full season, plus finishing just inside the top 10 in sprints and just off the podium in endurance is a bit frustrating given the costs involved. I’m probably going to take a year out completely including trackdays and see how I feel afterwards. stew-STR160 said:

I fly to Bahrain tonight to set-up the teams 5 bikes (handle bar, lever and foot peg positions, suspension settings) tomorrow and we have our official pre-season test this Friday (2*30 min sessions).
Cool. Get lots of pics. Is the testing covered on media somewhere?Although the track had been cleaned, there was no rubber down and so it was very slippery which saw the times off by 2 seconds + as compared to our riders normal times.
Still, it was for the riders to get some track time ahead of the race season.
Our races are shown live on Youtube on the circuits Youtube channel. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC7XwkjJ08ZMW7SZT3...
Anyway, time for a few picture.
Well, 2019 is done. Oulton Park is awesome. My first time there. And torrential rain...completed it mate.
10th and 11th in the two races. Was fighting for 6th though in the first race but had two false neutrals and only just kept it upright...haha...yeah.
Second race was drying, I should have put the Pirelli wets on as they work better in those conditions. My nice new Bridgestones were OK, but I didn't want to kill them. Oh well.
Now to wait until March...

A pic from Croft on the 12th Oct for Team Lucking Fast, (as it would appear Lindun has been banned again!) at the final round of the No Limits Endurance Championship.
A well deserved P2 and a podium place finally!
We were blessed with great weather and the race went really well, there were a couple of hiccups during the race but Si put in a monster 75 minute stint at the end of the race and his laptimes stayed very consistent which resulted in a 2nd place in class, so well done to Him and Brad

So last Friday saw the 1st race day of the season for UAE bike championships (600cc Supersport, 600cc Superstock and Ducati 959 Twins). We are racing our new to us Ten Kate built CBR600RR in the superstock class and have signed Tell Technologies as our title sponsor.
We won our class in both races and finished 2nd overall to Mike Edwards (959) in race 1 and won race 2 overall. Happy days.
