Best decision he can make, no one can race competitively on a bike thats out to kill them, a ZX10R from 04 is just as dangerous but its almost predictably so, so you ride it right, the Blade is more like Fred West !!!!

With the announcement that he is soon to be a father, this is no big surprise to be honest.

I'm a little bit sad, I would have liked to see him win a TT.

I'm pleased that he's calling it a day. The TT can now become the TT again rather than another Guy Martin show. I can't warm to the fellow myself, but I think he has made a good decision and allows him to continue being the Ferrari/Aston driving truck mechanic rather than another statistic

Was it ever Guy Martin show?
He had charisma that other riders lack (still, I cannot understand half of what the chap says), but TT was never about GM only.

Yes and no...

To the serious/lifelong TT fans it was and always will be the TT

But

There were a number of fans that only watched the TT because of Guy Martin and it became to an extent the Guy Martin show if that makes sense?

So, what you are saying is die-hard TT fans will watch it with or without GM (or anyone else for that matter) while GM attracted different crowd to TT and made the TT more known and more popular?
Well, hats off to GM then!

The TT will continue, Martin will continue to make decent TV and a more than decent living from it, Honda will carry on. For me this has been an absolute disaster for Honda but I doubt it'll make any noticeable difference to them.

Nicely twisted, but I very much doubt the crowds will dwindle in his absence

Apparently he has updated his Facebook page with this clarification tonight:

Martin told MCN that he was quitting road racing but he later clarifying his position on Facebook.

"I've not given up on racing or road racing but I've got no plans to do anymore road racing on the Hondas this year," he said.
