Is anyone else finding the tyres sliding around a lot in the wet and dry?

The standard Dunlops are by far the worst tyres I have ever ridden on and that includes TT100s and Yokohamas in the 70s.

I'm thinking of changing to Metzeler Tourance's, has anyone tried these or anything else on an Africa twin?

If you la ok on the Facebook groups, there are people struggling to give away the standard tyres with only a few hundred miles on them... That should tell you all you need to know!

Any tips on what are regarded as the best all weather tyres for the AT?

Unfortunately I've not tried any other tyres myself yet, then it depends who you ask... For what it's worth, I've settled on changing to Continental Trail Attack 2s if I go for a road tyre. I'm still not sure if I want off road tyres or not...

I spent an hour or so googling last night and Contis seem to be very well regarded. The TA2 or the slightly more off-road TKC70 both seem good. The TKC70 seemed to have the edge in the wet and gave up little in the dry. I think I’ll be swapping to those when the bike goes in for it’s running in service. I’m more focused on all condition usability than ultimate dry grip (and I quite like the look of something a bit more off-roady!).

Its already been discussed and the OE tyres are ok in the dry but very very sketchy in the wet. 3 of us who bought our bikes together have already switched to Continental Trail Attack 2.

My review of this tyre is that its fantastic an give good feedback and confidence. For the sake of a couple of hundred quid I am glad we all switched up.

My DCT has actually stalled 3 times now at low speed in traffic in D mode. Not sure that is supposed to happen....starts again on the button but still annoying. Closing in 7k miles now.

DCT isn't necessarily the cause of the stall... But no it shouldn't.

I've managed to stall mine when I open the throttle quite sharply from idle. It would almost feel like the clutch engaged according to the throttle position, before the revs got high enough. Is that a similar situation to yours?

All the bikes we have between my friends and I had have stalled also....

Its always at small throttle openings to opening up fuller... I think if you don't open the throttle in a certain way and hover at a certain throttle position (sounds vague) it can cause this stall. We have all somehow adapted our throttle openings so this isn't happening now.

Its weird and annoying. Not a real issue as its so rare.

No mine has never stalled, but I'm sure it's quite possible there's an unusual situation that could provoke it.

But the above issue is presumably just normal use in traffic, which it most certainly should not be stalling.

Probably a daft idea but I'll say it anyway, what's your throttle cable position like? Was it adjusted at the 600 mile?

As I say, maybe just being an ignoramus, but the cable will stretch a touch and/or be maladjusted during PDI, I'm not sure how sensitive it would be with it.

Not daft... but its a thought. I am at 550 and will be at 620 before my scheduled service. I'll ask them about it.

Not sure that makes any difference to my suggestion but I was a little disappointed to to just see from parts diagram now there is actually no direct link from the cable to the throttle body, and it's just some bullst convoluted ride by wire.

Edit: I think I'm talking st and ended up with the wrong parts diagram, perhaps VFR1200X or something. If it does go to a pot instead of the butterfly it's well hidden, and nothing like the diagram I had earlier. So apologies.

That's odd as I also thought cruise control was omitted due to the direct throttle and not fly by wire?!

I am going to take my bike back for a refund.
