I would agree with you about PCP vs used in normal circumstances, but with the deal being referred to we are talking about a total payment of 9k for a new one, which you pay in instalments, or just under 9k for a used one, this is why so many people are jumping on it.

ETA: collection arranged for Thursday 14th!

Don't suppose you asked about the centre stand did you? I forgot.

So the Africa Twin is now the two-wheeled equivalent of the Golf R I guess hehe

I think you've missed the point entirely in this example and/or haven't actually read the deal. Yes it's Zero deposit and 0% APR. But, there is also a £3,264.76 dealer contribution. So if you pay 9k for your used one with a years less warranty, you'd feel a fool when you could have brand new for £8,914.24 and for many on very affordable spread out payments for no extra cost! wink
I've got the deal open, and rang Honda this morning. Neither the website nor dealer said anything about £3,264.76 paid?

http://www.honda.co.uk/motorcycles/range/adventure...

There's just 0% PCP and "Customers may claim either £500 customer saving including VAT or luggage pack worth £960.00 on new Africa Twin (CRF1000L) purchases"

If they're knocking off over 3 grand I'll quite happily agree I missed that and will be buying one....

The offer direct from Honda doesn't include it (I think). The offer from the dealer (the YouTube video in the first post) says something along the lines of "list price is x, but we're reducing it to y".

Edit: Just checked and that YouTube video isn't even in this thread. I don't know where the fk I got that from, I think maybe this thread just carried over from somewhere else.

The bloke this morning said, they'll knock off the £500 as above, then a bit extra for the panniers if you don't want them, then a bit more if you want a manual rather than a DCT.

That's all he said though. I think if he was going to give me three and half thousand pounds discount, that would of been the time to mention it!

What's up with Honda?? I read that the AT is utterly amazing & got 5 stars across the board. I saw one at my local dealer around a year ago, & he said they were flying out the shop like hot cakes & there was a waiting list. If all of this is true, why are they making these apparently too-good-to-be-true deals, which will ultimately hit used values? I don't understand the business model, particularly given that they are trying to out-GS BMW.

here is the link

http://www.johnbanks.co.uk/honda-bikes/

As i understand it, its due to the lack of sales prompted by the earthquake in Japan that caused production of the range to stop for a while.

I am not sure why John Banks is unique to this deal but maybe as a main seller they have been given rights to sell at this price. I believe all UK stock has been ordered due to this deal direct from Honda ( 31 bikes since last Friday)

I think it's a way of getting the bikes back on the road and it's certainly working.

Pick mine up on the 16th!

I would guess that the DCT model isn't selling as well as expected so they want to shift some stock.

The deal was with John Banks Honda only.

You're missing their £3264 dealer deposit contribution. That's on top of 0% finance and 0% deposit. Looks a bit different now, doesn't it!

As said, less than £9k new.

I think you may have missed the boat now, unless you're very lucky.....

Yep, I have just signed the paperwork. £8995ish. 0% depost 0% interest. 36 payments of £70 then I just pay them the final £6475.

Rude not to really.

Thanks for this.

Spoke to John Banks, spoke to another Honda dealer and negotiated a deal which I promised not to disclose in the public domain.

Short version is I'm now renting (own?) a red Dakar DCT Honda twin for £70/month!

Not even bloody ridden one. biglaugh

It's never going to fit in the shed is it?

Good work!

I wish I had the balls to do it the other day now, but a half built house (roof trusses coming today!) made me give in. Bugger.

laugh You came round then. Full circle in 1 page smile

I haven't ridden one either. I have found lots of goodies for it. I want the crash bards, fogs and rear rack for it as a minimum.

When I purchase it I will post links and update!

I will be following with interest, this deal popped up on my thread where I was considering an AT but bought a CB500X instead (for 1/3 the price) but the big bike is still very much on the shortlist for the spring so it'll be good to see how you find it after making the same move.

I have a CB500X at the moment. Brilliant bike. Probably going to keep it as well.

It is perfect for London traffic as it is skinny. I was splitting traffic this morning and was thinking it would be difficult to do this on an africa twin.

I will give you a back to back review of their merits when I get the africa twin.

They are great fun to ride - my mate and I took a pair out on the test drive and had a right hoot around the b roads and some dual carriageways. Handled really well and in sport modes or Manual mode it was fast - i looked down at one point and was surprised at the speed.

Mate I was just looking at the generic Honda deal, then I saw the John Banks one (which was worth heading to Cambridge for with a bit of a hassle), then a local dealer called me up and basically made me a deal which was even better for my circumstances. I've signed the paperwork, picked a registration, but I'm still somewhat in disbelief...

Similarly for me, I'm wanting Crash bars, and heated grips, but more importantly I need some bloody textiles and boots as I only have my sports stuff which won't really do the job!

Herself went fking mental. Thank Christ I've just spent loads on the family or I'd be sleeping with the new bike in the shed!
