It's a pity the DCT is the only option. Manual for me
Though even with man maths and skirting it around SWMBO's radar I doubt it would happen?
I thought this. But the DCT is really quite enjoyable. I have it in D mode but you can still shift up and down if you want toThough even with man maths and skirting it around SWMBO's radar I doubt it would happen?
That said, I have also thought of this. I purchased extended warranty @ £229 to take me to the 3 years.

Back from holidays now, anyone have any info on the dealer in the north who will match it?
Any white ones available?
Try Vertu in Nottingham or Grantham. They had a few left on Friday. Black only. Any white ones available?

So how does the bike compare to the CB? I'm not going to find a deal as good as this one but I'm still tempted to get an AT myselfMuch better wind coverage
Comfortable and more planted at higher speed.
That said, I am still using the CB for work because I much prefer it at slow speed and its width in London traffic. It is lighter and I can get from the M4 to my office in Soho without stopping (apart from traffic lights). It is also a bit better on fuel, less likely to get nicked and the value won't be crushed any more than it already is adding 4000 miles a month.
I am sure the CB will be retired at some point when things start breaking, but at the heady heights of 70,000+ miles it shows no sign of breaking. I would rest assure you have made a good purchase.
I do a lot of riding outside of my work commute including some big distance touring two up, camping and exploring. So it is nice for me to have something 'better' for this. I found using my CB for everything kind of took the fun out of it.

Re,running in.
What's the opinion on it?
As you might gather from this and previous posts I've never had a new vehicle before so what is the general census of opinion?
Most of my mileage home will be motorway and I've never ridden a auto bike before .
I took it easy at varying speeds for first 200 miles and then gradually go a bit more mental. What's the opinion on it?

I have run a few bikes in now, a couple of which are still going well over 80k miles.

Is sitting at a constant speed not good then?
I was a bit gutted to learn that there wasn't cruise control.
On my last bike I did 34 miles at mixed town speeds and then it sat on the motorway at 90mph for 600 miles to finish running it in. I just shut the throttle off every now and then to get some engine braking in.I was a bit gutted to learn that there wasn't cruise control.
My africa did approx 100 miles on country lanes and city driving and then it enjoyed some 90mph motorway work for a few hundred and then country lanes again.
Some people say constant speed is fine, some don't. I have just used it normally and not ragged the bks off of it for a few hundred.

I think around half of those sales must have come from this thread alone! Good effort.
At least! OP should be on commission.
Glad most of you managed to get one!

Well, that did not take long. Struggled to get on the Cb500x in the morning and leave the Africa twin sat there.
So I sold the CB500x..
For any reasonable sum of money? I guess you're going to smash the AT mileage allowance out of the park now So I sold the CB500x..
Haha, yeh I am going to town on the mileage allowance. Be about 3,000 a month I think. Let's see how she holds up.
It has been a bonus for me this has. Because I do not pay for train costs I anticipate the requirement for a new bike every couple of years, which I like to buy with readies. So each month I would put £250 away with a view that after 2 or 3 years I would have up to 9000 for a new commuter, or more if my bike fund has performed well So I was ready to buy anyway!

Honda Cambridge will do it for £100
Wheels Honda quoted: - Was it bought from here?
No.
That will be £200!
I've just called Honda of Bournemouth and booked my AT in for its first service. I've been quoted £155, which seems fair enough, as the bike isn't from them.Wheels Honda quoted: - Was it bought from here?

So what are we paying for the first (600miles) service?
My local Honda dealer quoted £158 for which they would change the oil and filters, and 'give it a good check over'
As they will get the oil and filters for under £30, that's 2 1/2 hours at their normal workshop labour rate checking it over.
It's my first new bike, so my first dealer 'first' service. What have experience have others had?

Prior to collection I had asked John Banks to fit a centre stand however the request seemed to be overlooked and on collection there was no Stand... I've asked my local dealer to fit a Stand whilst it has the first service however Honda are out of stock until mid November!! This is a right royal pain in the arse as not only would I use the Centre Stand for maintenance and cleaning but I was also planning to put the bike on one of those Dolly Stands that allows you to move the bike around on castors. I could then fit my car in the garage as well.

First trip in on it today. Happy overall. Fuel economy isn't great to be honest. I do Bristol into London and have to fill up again at reading services on the way home.I will estimate that I am getting 50mpg. That is at 85-95mph (I take a private road all the way into work yadda yadda). I have spent 3 years.
Big learner for me in the traffic today getting used to the height of this. I am 6ft 1 but am sometime tippy toeing when filtering slowly.

I love the black scheme, it is the best colour. I have a dark Mivv carbon can coming, black crash bars, black spots on route. Have a Black screen fitted as well, love it.
I’ve got black Remus coming, black crash bars, black Mra screen , want spots but not sure what to get, what are you getting?I just wanted to let you all know that despite being told by two honda dealerships including John Banks and Fowlers Bristol, I have just been told that if you do not have your bike serviced by Honda you are invalidating your warranty.
I am not happy at all as I now have an expensive bike sat there with a complicated gearbox with no Warranty.
It was news to John Banks and they are discussing with regional honda and going to get back to me.
ETA: 1800 miles in
