Indeed, they go a funny kind of squishy afterwards...
The other issue I found was the 1190 could spin the rear up very easily on damp tar. great off road tyre but on road are a bit meh IMHO. vague, noisy and once the knobbles wear down on the rear give a very sketchy feeling when leant over on the road. And they do square off quite easily.
But they look cool which is all BB AT'ers care about hehe

I cancelled my order and am buying an ex demo R1200R sport instead

I couldn't quite get my head round the fact I was buying an adventure bike to ride round London. Every front on photo put me off, I started looking st front tyre width and profile and the 90/90 started to bug me.

It will be over £100 a month so clearly more than this amazing deal but I'm happy to pay up for something I'd rather ride.

Not sure why Honda don't make a road optimised bike based on the AT as there is so much that's right about it and so much good tech. BMW don't have a dct bike...
Good decision. The better bike for road use with significantly more drive than the AT. Get it HillTopped for more go (+20hp).

fk's sake, they're asking for £180 for the first service. It's just bloody oil, and two filters....

What's the catch re: servicing elsewhere in relation to warranty and value? Can I just stick it anywhere else or does it need to be a Honda specialist?

I had intended on letting them do it, but having now read the service schedule that is a piss take.

I bought a 3-year service plan for £400 when I got mine. Didn't seem like unreasonable value and I don't have to think about it now. I appreciate this isn't helpful.

No it's really not. biglaugh

I'll just give them both barrels by politely asking how the cost was arrived at with the service manager, then unless they immediately offer me some substantive saving, I'll pay it anyway out of my sense of social awkwardness and not wanting to come across as a tight arse in front of people I don't know. Avoiding all eye contact.

That'll show them.

Can you not enquire with the sales team about the service pack? (three year servicing package?). You are within 28 days of purchase? so might be some wiggle room with sales.... plus it helps them hit October targets :-) No harm in asking.

It's £675. You have 90 days and 600 miles to buy it apparently;

That doesn't actually look any cheaper?

EU law kicked in on this a few years ago - you can have it serviced wherever you like and not knacker the warranty as long as its done properly using correct parts blah blah. This is why independents now all have the manufacturer diagnostic kit and software. And also why so many cars get nicked as the EU law mandates an easily accessible OBD port (not sure on bikes). Saying all of that, a non dealer stamp will cause questions on the residual value but you may not care if you are just handing it back.

Ask the dealer about their own service plan. Mine was £400 compared to the official Honda one at £675.
