Guessing by your mileage you are keeping it, sounds like you are doing what i do. I snap up the new sets of dunlops for £30-50 for commuting as they last ages and replace with decent tyres when going on holiday on it.

If you are keeping it just get it serviced by a local mechanic, i have been. They did not even care to see my history when i got my warranty wheels. Although that might be different if it is an engine issue.

I have 45k-50k on mine and still have original rear pads smile
Im on my 2nd set of rear pads. I use the fronts more now I've adjusted the suspension as it used to dive too much for me and using the rear was smoother but all good now.

I'll use my local indie for the next service but for the valve service they were coming in at £750 due to the labour costs of stripping down/putting back together, once the warranty's up I'll just do it all myself.

Im going to be keeping it & getting myself a K4/5 GSXR 750 to go with it as I miss my sports bikes but do enjoy the AT too.
My mechanic is £40 per hour plus call out, i had him do valve clearances when he did did plugs. Was about £400 all in. They did not need adjusting at all.

It is on 40,000 odd so far, will see what its at next year but i suspect 60/70k so I will likely just keep it, does not make sense to shift it on if it will run me up to 120k miles which i think it will.

I have had the wheels replaced under warranty and the battery is on its way out, but the rest of the bike is fine! Just consumables, sprockets and chain etc, I dont wash it very often at all, but i use corrosion block all over it (the blue grease type)

As a side note i have just put 150 quid a month into a savings account each month so the balloon will be sat there ready to go anyway.
Still feels tight at 40,000 miles ?

Given these cheap lease deals were i cant imagine many are surprised by the second hand prices!
I am actually looking for a Honda adventure bike, but I was blinkered into the 700cc Transalp.
I was thinking a high miler AT would be too expensive.

Yeh she is all good. 45,000 now i think. Has not been cleaned for a few months so will probably give it a once over this weekend. No drama with it yet apart from a couple rear wheel bearings. 60,000 miles it will get a serious going over. At the moment its ticking by no issues.

Mine is coming up for 2 years old on the 23rd, just under 9k miles up.

Still got another year at £70 but thought I'd have a look around to see if there were any deals to change and there doesn't seem to be much out there.

Some offers on a new AT but the ATAS seems a bit big for me and can't see the point of a newer version of what I already have.

Love the R1250 GS/GSA Rallye but about £18k all up and no deals I can see.

Looked at the KTM1290 Super Adventure and they've got £1290 off and £1290 worth of bits but no real deals - still north of £200/month and 4.9%.

Anyone else thinking the same, what have you found?

On the flip side I absolutely love the AT but will probably hand it back next year as anecdotally the DCTs are tough to sell secondhand. It'll probably take me a day to strip all the bits off though smile

Had mine 1 year on Sat, 200 miles off of 19k at the moment.

Looking to fit a Givi/Kappa trekker box, anyone know if this can be mounted straight to say an Altrider luggage plate?

They offered me the standard £1290 off and £1290 of Power Parts, 4.9% finance but I wasn't pushing.

Firstly have you had a ride yet as it was wet when I went so still waiting for a go - would love to know what you think - and secondly, did you get a cracking deal? smile

Thanks,

Phil

Yep got a cracking deal, my friend owns a local Ktm dealer and yes I’ve ridden one a few times and it’s so much more than the africa twin, the Honda is a great bike but in terms of performance, suspension etc the Ktm is like a sportsbike on stilts

Are you submitting claims yourselves via Honda directly or via a dealer? Had to submit a warranty claim for an new instrument screen just after I got my bike and my local dealer wasn't interested as I didn't buy the bike from them, got it done eventually but was a chore.

I did it via fowlers in Bristol, they did it for me. Originally asked for so much information, like all my receipts and service history...for wheel spokes. I just said please sort it and they did within the week. Never gave them anything in the end.

I popped into my local dealer, emailed them the pictures (as corrosion was found when I was having the tyres changed) and they sent everything off to Honda there and then. Haven't had an answer yet but hoping it's an OK for new ones before my service on Friday

Dealer I bought the bike with organised warranty claim following the last service, and just threw a new set of wheels on it last month. Remarked I was the last one.

I fking chipped them within 2 weeks.

I've really stuck by my guns by using this bike as it was intended, but that did sting somewhat as they looked lovely and new.

Another highlands trip last week made me reconsider throwing it back to the dealer next year. It doesn't excite me, but by Christ it's a great machine.

Update on my wheels.

Had a call from the dealer, Honda requesting 'general pictures of the bike' and a description of what I use the bike for.

Wonder if this will get interesting...
