I thought I’d pop back here to say that the Helite worked when I crashed on Saturday.

My torso & neck are fine, but I broke my hand and snapped numerous bits on the bike, so, whilst I can’t say how effective it was, I’m quite certain it saved me some damage.

It’s in good nick too with just some scuffing - swapping the cartridge and the application of a little dubbin should see it good to go again.
Sorry to hear of your off and I hope you mend quickly.

My D-Air Misano 1pc has encountered its second issue now

First was the front poppers that connect the circuit for the airbag failing. Sent back to Dainese london for foc fix

Now while in Portimão the wire behind the LED snapped off. Looking at how its fitted and quality I'm not surprised. All I do is put my leathers on wearing 151s nothing else!

Great leathers but shoddy electrics

I’ll live thanks.

Funnily enough, I was marvelling on Saturday morning at how I hadn’t crashed since May 2021! laugh

I’ve used airbags on track for over 5yrs. Initially I wore the Helite turtle waist jacket with the lanyard. I had 3 offs. 2 on track days and one racing. I walked away winded but uninjured. One time the front brake’s overheated and locked up the front throwing me forwards and landing on my back at over 70.
I thought I’d upgrade to an RST track evo suit, which was comfortable and fitted well. I came off at Cadwell in September 22 by high siding. Landed on my head and shoulder. The bag burst resulting in me breaking my collarbone into 3 and busting a few ribs. RST replaced the bag for free but I’ve no confidence in the suit anymore.

I heard Hideout stopped selling In&Motion airbags because several burst in similar circumstances. However, I don’t know if In&Motion has improved its bag quality subsequently.

when i had the fitting for my textiles i wanted to incorporate that air bag and that was mentioned (bursting), they do the dainese one but i got the A* which I though had a better coverage and a longer battery life. It has been a poor buy really.

the biggest flaw - you cannot clean it even with muc off or febreze it just stinks which is really embarrassing in enclosed areas such as shops/ferry/petrol stations, its expsensive when it goes pop and limited repair outlets.

probably should have just stuck with d3o inserts in the jacket and trousers

I have an In&Motion Klim airbag - chose it as it didn’t need as big a jacket as the AlpineStars (my first choice) and it’s home ‘rechargeable’ after an inflation. No idea how good it actually is as thankfully it hasn’t been triggered in anger.

But I though In&Motion only produced the removable self-contained electronic box of tricks that’s makes everything work, and it was whoever brands the airbag makes (or subcontracts wink) the bag itself? So I’d assumed in my Klim airbag Kilm makes the jacket and bag and In&Motion only supply the controller? I wasn’t aware In&Motion made the actual bags. Anyone know for sure?

That's really poor, why can't you clean it?

you are unable to strip it down and clean the outer fabric in the washing machine which is what it needs

i think there are some secuirty features that tell then you've done it and stripping it down - taking the insides out, voids the warranty and probbaly damage the electronics

they recommnend wiping it down with a damp cloth whcih just does not do the job
