Serious question, why did you feel the cost of your car material to your initial post? I'm guessing there is some relevance or consequence that I'm missing.
Yes, quite possibly the bit where the OP describes where groups of bikers were doing wheelies close to his very expensive car. I'd assumed he was annoyed and felt worried they were going to damage his P+J?

I've been surrounded by a large group of bikers on the M6 coming down from Warrington. When I accelerated and pulled away the inevitable happened and a couple took offence, leading to..well, we all know what. Point is we all know these things happen, why so shocked at the OP's reaction?

I don't think he was worried about that, it's insured and he even raises the point about potentially braking for a hedgehog to send them into the back of him. A chap on minimum wage may be even more worried for his 2k Ford Focus, or the safety of his family etc etc... I don't get the relevance of the cost but I assume there is an angle I'm missing.

Fairly obvious he doesn't like bikers, but I guess there may be a bit of cross-forum winding up going on. Seems to have worked!

Ref my post at 18.23 yesterday.

In the circumstances, anyone would have been more inclined to brake rather urgently for the said fauna if they were driving a £10k snotter.

Yep, sounds all too familiar.

Twelve months in the slammer and his bike confiscated should give him enough time to see the error of his ways.

Anyone on here who condones his idiotic behaviour on a busy road should give their heads a wobble.

The "rest my case" one about some bikers (I'd say people) make it very easy to dislike them?

That doesn't explain the relevance of cost? You might be more inclined to use a 10k stter as a weapon to make a point but don't assume that everyone would. I suspect people on lower incomes with cheaper cars are most dependant on them and couldnt afford to play stupid games.

I'm not commenting on your experience, I'd have to see it to make any judgment. It does sound like they were riding aggressively (is there a possibility that they thought they were having fun with an enthusiast in a nice car... someone with a related interest?)

The bell end in the OP was riding appallingly and I think everyone on here has said so, the nearest we've had to condoning it is comments about how ste his wheelies were.

think the sentencing guidelines need some re-evaluation
Totally agree. There is a massive disparity between certain crimes and courts. I am not arguing about the ban, silly stuff, expect a ban. BUT, prison sentence? Unfortunately there are case after case after case where a drunk driver or similar crashes, causes serious injuries and even death, and avoids prison. Clearly there are different situations, but you get the drift:

http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/police-slam-j...
http://www.express.co.uk/news/uk/746513/Anger-drin...
http://www.belfasttelegraph.co.uk/news/northern-ir...

It goes on.....

Stupid driving / riding should be punished, prison? Nah, that makes no sense when you have drivers who kill who walk away. Thats just madness. Some more sensible guidelines on prison sentences I think.

first offend? jail would definitely be too harsh
recidivism? he deserved it
but we also need to increase the punishment to reckless driving causing injuries or depth, drug/drink-drive

"Pawel Zietowski, 27, was filmed by an unmarked police patrol for 16 minutes "

16 minutes? If what he was doing was so dangerous why film him for such an extended period of time before pulling him over.

Sending him to jail for what was displayed in the video is ridiculous IMO.

While I understand it was likely that the police in this particular case would have had their pursuit authorised, I think the point that those on stolen bikes, unwilling to stop for the police, are considerably more likely to get away with it than not. (Look at the bike theft statistics vs. the convictions for bike theft for proof!) Which does lead to the realistic possibility that this individual was "harshly punished" because he owned the motorcycle (so could be traced) and stopped for the police.
I'm not sure what the point is, though. Am I supposed to feel sorry for this moron? All he's done is reinforce the view of many other road users that we're all crazy people with a death wish.
Feel sorry for him? No! Feel he was harshly treated and feel that this is again evidence that the legal system is stacked against those who have something to lose and focuses almost exclusively on such people? - Well, that's the point.

He was a moron, No question. He deserved a ban and a fine. No question. Did he actually deserve jail time when greater grimes are going unpunished? Was jail really in the public interest?

As the quote goes: "Not only must Justice be done; it must also be seen to be done."

I can see you are both a biker and car enthusiast, and consequently probably understand more than most of the Sons of Anarchy wannabees hehe showing the usual aggression on this thread also unfortunately increasingly witnessed towards motorists on the road of which both mine and the M6 experience just posted are typical examples.

No way the fkwit closely inspecting the rear of my car whilst pulling wheelies at c 50mph was riding other than like a prick in a retarded and aggressive way. Classic case of trying in vain no doubt to be billy big bks and impress his 175cc similarly backward biker bruvs innit. And we all know where that can lead, especially when the innocent harassed motorist has to brake rather suddenly in an emergency particularly in this case with the stopping power of ceramics. Biker take note....intelligence has its limits but stupidity does not. hehe

Interesting to also see the hate for dashcam footage shown by biker bros and his virtual chums on this thread. Not hard to see why! Ride in accordance with the law and whats the problem chaps.....unless, of course, you have something to hide. rolleyes

Good to see Plod are increasingly willing to rely on such footage in prosecutions for more serious road crimes.

I cut you some slack by agreeing with your initial point in a polite and considered manner. Now you're just being offensive. You can drop the rhetoric and bile and stop assuming everyone meets the bloated stereotype you're imagining. You also need to consider that pretty much everyone in this little sub-forum is a driver as well as a rider.

Yes, I am aware of that.

And dash cam footage is increasingly being used by Plod to prosecute all types of road users......... motorists as well as bikers.
