Was London or the South East gritted? I didnt see any and I rode the bike in today in the wet so if it was gritted in the last few days, I need to get a hose on it pronto. fk.

Yes they've started gritting all my local roads. If you're gonna keep riding give it a wash after!

I was out last Saturday and Sunday, i was out yesterday and I'm out today.

Its cold and the roads are not all that good so it may be my last one today.

One of the lads just missed the back of me last week before putting it through a hedge and fence and breaking both wrists and a few other bits plus his bike is well fked, bent forks, yokes and no bodywork from the front until the tail piece.
Dayday should have parked his Fireblade up a week earlier John paperbag

Nailed it cool

Was cool yesterday but absolutely freezing during the lesson on Monday. Now to find a bike to park up for the winter.
Congrats!! Got my mod 2 next Tuesday so really envious.

I got a 600 hornet a couple of weeks ago just to ride through winter as it's quick enough and very cheap to insure. Plan was to get one in March but I knew I'd never keep to that one...

This thread is not good reading! (another newbie who’s just passed). Can’t face not riding until spring after doing only 100 miles since getting the licence so going to buy some heated grips or gloves and see how it goes. Also got a 600 Hornet, it’s immaculate and kinda wish I’d bought something rougher now for the winter. Think I’ll give this ACF50 stuff a try that seems popular and hopefully it still looks ok next summer!

Before middle age , the internet & "magic" chemicals, we all just used to use our bikes anyway, I and many of my friends had no choice, a bike was something to get to work on in the week and have fun on over the weekend, ignorance was bliss , its not for me now the gritters have been out but its your bike and having just passed your test(s), leave the worry to us old(er)/OCD types and get out when you wish..I used too!

Thanks! One of my instructors mentioned wearing the plastic gloves that you get at petrol stations for filling up with diesel under your gloves - keeps the wind off and your hands dry if it rains.

I’ve always found that the loss of feel and difficulty putting gloves on makes that a no-no. However, I’d only do it in the wet at a trackday or race as don’t ride in the cold or wet on the road.

Temps pIcked back up today, annoyingly I brought the car in.

Last night was cold on the hands, definitely time to switch over to the winter gloves.

A21 south of the M25 had certainly been done last night by 2300 when I was riding home

Now that’s cold. I think I’d pack myself away too.

You melt laugh

I ride every week, the decent fast ones are when it's dry and warm but they are always a good laugh with good mates

I'm just a little pre occupied doing free work Sunday mornings right now due to the magistrates finest

Last lesson before mod 2 on Tuesday. If id have had heated grips it would have been perfectly fine and that's with summer boots on as well.

So if it's ok at 6 degrees with a biting wind then I should get a few miles in over the winter IF I pass...
