I’m usually a medium in Arai & Suomy, but this I went large, really like it though.

New helmet time! Ultra Carbon X-803.

Have been looking at these carbon helmets for a while, been using an Arai quantum for past 3 years which has been perfect but time to upgrade.

Went to Helmet city near Cheddar, great little place, very helpful.

Old helmet for comparison..

What’s the fit and sizing like? I’ve just bought a L off Helmet City on their X802 Carbon as they’re on a deal. Hoping it’ll fit OK.

Fits perfect, super comfy.

I’ve gone for a medium whereas my Arai is a large.

Good to know. I’ve been wearing large in Bell for a few years, but have been between sizes, wearing XL with Shoei. Looking forward to these new helmets.

I’ve got an 802rr and it’s a little bit tight at mouth bar bit no complaints other wise.

I bought one that was on offer but the design I wanted wasn’t in the offer, only for them to include the one I wanted 3 weeks later so I bought that as a spare.

The 803rr is supposed to be a bit bigger around there. I really want one as that’s the only issue with the 802rr but I don’t fancy paying retail on one.

The Bell ones were a bit tight at the mouth bar too until they bedded in, then they were perfect. Hoping for similar for these.

Which ones did you buy? I got the Puro Sport and the SBK one. Bit pissed off aS I’ve now seen the pure black Puro is on the deal now and I like plain helmets, might swap one for that.

I’ve got a gloss black carbon with red trim and the carbon pettrucci helmet - the one with the flowers smile

I don’t like helmets with writing on them but plain ones are too plain and I don’t like straight/ slash lines so mad pink flowers it was.

The front isn’t really a problem if I shave otherwise it tickles a bit. Having a intercom mic in the front is tight so I use the stick on one instead.

in my experience, bell and nolan sizes go hand in hand.

I do like a carbon lid, it makes you realise how bloody heavy Arai are. Even the standard nolan is light.

Hoe you’re right. I’ll let you know tomorrow. These are to replace the Bell ones that are showing a few too many signs of wear and tear.

Had my first ride with the Ultra Carbon on today.. so good!

The comfort compared to my Arai is so much better, vents work perfect, half the weight you could forget it’s on your head. Not sure I’ll ever wear the Arai again!

According to the reviews c1240 grams depending on size, sound bout right as mine is light as you like and as others have said, are very good lids, mine is one of my trackday lids ...

Mine arrived today, which is pretty impressive since I only ordered them just before the Bank Holiday weekend. The fir is just right, same as the Bell helmets, finish is superb, so well chuffed.

Good deal at Helmet City on the X802RR as mentioned before.

Time to retire the Bells I think.

Have to say that having worn carbon helmets for the first time with the Bells that were on offer, they are so much easier to ride with and genuinely feel like you’re not wearing one. Hope these are the same.

Nice!

Be careful with the poppers on the interior when you put it back in.

It’s easy to deform the popper and fk it them up if you don’t line them up properly. Then it won’t click back in nicely. And if you force it you bend the inside of the shell and again it won’t click in.

I’m really wanting to get the 803rr. It has a larger screen opening too. I’ve seen the Matt black one for £399 on eBay.

Interesting, about the same weight as my RPHA 11.

GRP helmets seem better suited to the task of protecting your head, but I'm sure they know what they're doing.
