Had to google what a Svartpilen 701 was, a Husky, very nice, looks great in many of the shots and far less pretentious than the current wave of wkt cafe racers, although do all seem to have stopped appearing on my commute .... enjoy the new ride ....

After visiting the NEC show last week I've ordered a Svartpilen 701 for March.

You guys make me realise I’m only really playing at this whole “leg” thing!

Treated myself to a new tool box system, the halfords advanced range on offer from there black Friday deal. Reduced from £1050 to £470.

If your lucky when you get to the till they will book it out under the cheaper tool box system at £329 and also hand you a £10 voucher to boot biggrin

I went through a very simular experience as you(although not a bike accident) and can empathise with the whole "healing/not healing" frustrating feeling so I know you where joking but you're definitely not playing at it. Heal well sir

As if I didn’t have enough on trying to finish my race bike for next year (which can be seen in the foreground) today I acquired this 2012 WR250 for a bit of winter fun.
It’s only got 23 hours on it but they look to be a hard 23 hours. Need to get it running and in for an MOT and then go learn to ride off road. I only paid triple digits for it (Unfortunately a very sad reason as to why it was so cheap)

The 6R is progressing nicely and should be painted and fully assembled over Christmas.

Congrats on the new bike! A very "new" bike for little money. The WR's seem to hold their value well

Get looking at Track N Trails as they are often down in Dorset, or if you are keen there is a funduro near Keynsham I believe which they are running on the 23rd December! Only £20 for the Keynsham one too

PM me if you do anything on it as I may have my offroad bike sorted by then thumbup

No pics but came to leave work yesterday with a nearly flat rear. Took it to the servo and pumped up as best I could to get to my mechanic guy, which turned out fine. I needed 2 new ones anyway, so all good.

1 step nearer or should I say 3 steps nearer after theory, CBT and then MOD 1.

It's not easy but very enjoyable if you can somehow remove the pressure from it.

Fanco Uncini moaned about them in 1982 when he raced one in SA but then he was used to riding a full on 500cc Grand Prix 2 stroke that weihed nothing and was on slicks.

My modified 1100 Katana at one of the short tracks in SA.

My standard production 1100 SXZ at Kyalami which had a 1km straight so you were doing 150 mph at the brake marker boards.

Like all things the brakes or handling etc were relative to the times. Ride one now and you think its st but back then they were the dogs.

Thanks, I've actually really enjoyed Mod1 - I get a lot of pleasure from driving/riding a machine with some precision, so it's quite nice to get a perfect score on something which can be quite tricky.

The school I've been using also helps - I moved in October and ended up 5 miles from Probike MCT (cheeky plug!) near Chester who have a full-size off road area to learn Mod1 with, so you've seen it 100 times and practised everything in multiple directions before you get to the test. All I needed was to battle the nerves on the day.

You're right that it's a complex and time-consuming business though, I reckon having bought even cheap RST kit and all the training so far I'll be about £1300 down plus 5 or 6 days. But putting it into context, that was about what I spent learning to drive at current rates.

I will be looking to do some kind of enduro practise day or similar on it over the Christmas period. I’ll have a look at the keynsham one, cheers.
Drained the tank and put some fresh super unleaded in, gave it a few kicks and it fired up (battery is dead). Took it up the road quickly, I’m quite surprised how punchy it is, I can see why people say avoid 450s as an off-road novice!
Ordered a service kit and a lithium battery so should be able to put it in for an MOT next week.
