A picture a day...biker banter (Vol 5)
Discussion
I've decided that its time for my 1981 Ducati MHR to see the road again, after spending 25 years being a big ornament. I restored it back in the early 90's, since when its sat in my living room, only moving a few feet when the room was decorated.
Its still sitting in my living room, and it'll be awhile before it can be moved. But I've made a start by removing the master cylinders and callipers, they'll be rebuilt with new seals and pistons if needed. I've also bought a pair of new Avon AM26 tyres (100 on the front, 110 on the back both
18 inch), to replace its Pirelli Phantoms, even though they've got plenty of tread left, but then they are about 30 years old. Though someone has already asked me for the old tyres for their restored bike..

Just browsing gumtree and came across this.
If it’s the Malcolm I know he has some amazing bikes in his collection.
I don’t think it will be around for long

Took this for a test ride today, 796, absolutely smitten with it...
The engine is fantastic, the fuelling is brilliant; roll on from 2kRPM and it's super smooth, and the throttle hasn't a hint of snatch. Just gotta do the sums and decide whether the price hike from the 696 is worth it for the extra power, single sided swing arm and better wheels.

Thanks, possibly a Ducati monster, fancy something that makes a good noise.
Excellent choice (I may be biased though...)Anyway, as it's a picture a day I'll leave this here. It arrived in the post for me yesterday, I had a quick look, wrapped it back up and sent it off (with some multi adjustable, TiN forks I also happened to have) for a service, potential re-spring and set up for my bike
The fun will really start as I try to fit a shock with numerous remote reservoirs onto a bike that previously just had a shock...
Loads of people just seem to stick them in boxes and send them, but if you need to insure it and say what it is, or do an invoice for international shipping (Customs), they get refused or impounded!
And weirdly, it seems to be only 2nd hand shocks. New ones have some IATA approved exemption for international air freight, as a "small item" but unless you can get that certificate from Ohlins etc, and do a dangerous goods form etc, they wont take them! Pain in the arse.
