That's you from yesterday! I'm going to post it on the covid 19 thread and share my disgust in somebody pretending to go out for essential travel.
Either that or I might post something on the other st threads that seem to dominate biker banter these days biggrin
The Rothbury road has been quiet the last few weeks, I dunno whats wrong with everyone.

Is there a prize for the amount of times you can wheel the bike out, polish it and put it back in the garage?
How're you getting on with the 1290 SAS? I'm thinking of chopping my 1198 for one after this nonsense is all finished. Test rode one back in Feb and couldn't for the life of me get it to lift the front wheel, even with TC off. It did only have 50 miles on it though and none of the electronic packs activated (not even the quickshifter…).

Enjoying furlough quite a bit at the moment...Had a few friends (socially distance stylee) drop bikes off for a bit of a fettle and some for a service, i'm confirned to the house / garden so its keeping me sane to be honest.

Had a play with a leggy 1998 R1 last week, it really did stink , havent got a pic of the rad but it was minging but after some (a lot ) of time straightening the fins and a paint, took some years and many miles off it..Engine was bad but aside from taking bits off it to fully restore, looked a lot better , owner was pleased anyway. I've even repainted the Mrs CBR600s fork legs now as well..

Stand was the best thing ive bought in a long time..

Also had my long lost KR1 delivered this morning , this has been in storage for 2 and a bit years I guess and at a friends for a year or so before that...My Mrs thought id sold it back in 2016 I think...she looked at it today, said she thought it was pretty and asked whose it was...

I'll lay the news on her in a few months when I can escape the house!

500 is another chaps dropped off yesterday , quite a difference in weight pushing these 2 about...emphasized by the fact the 500 is totally full of fuel and the KR1 bone dry..

Hi mate
Done about 3k miles on it since I got it in October last year, was meant to be going on a big tour end of May , it wheelies well in 3rd with a bit of clutch up, it’s a great alround bike, the suspension is good, you can really notice the modes, I’ve popped it in rider with luggage as I’m a bit of a heffer and it works well, it’s surprising how quick it is on country roads, I’m gonna take it on track as I think it will do Ok
It’s lovely and docile on the motorway if you want it to be, I’ve got heated grips and seat, plug my Keis jacket in and I can easily do 3-4 hours on it in the winter.
V happy with it.

That’s a fancy stand for cleaning a 98 R1! I stole a ply box from work for the weekend.

Quite therapeutic tinkering following an enduro bike smash 2 months ago left me with a damaged neck and trapped nerves in both arms.

I’ll take it.

Will require 1 week and a number of trips to buy essentials but I promise I’ll give it the once over with the hose pipe

Took out back wheel while on rear paddock stand and then lift front of bike via front wheel while wifey slides box under bike. As you lower it down again it pulls itself up off the rear stand.

It’s got quite a flat sump so sits quite happily - just need to make sure when you’re undoing stuff it doesn’t upset the balance and see-saw you in the face!

Would have loved to had a nose at that John...fun somewhat got sucked out of it today regards the owner of the 500 being diagnosed with Covid-19 this afternoon...while we kept more than the 2m distance when he dropped it off, I cant remember if i pushed it into the garage wearing gloves or not...Really annoyed with him (he says now he was feeling fine but had a cough!) and myself for allowing my guard to slip after being indoors for 5 weeks and my other half/step daughter putting the effort in doing similar..Be glad when this week is gone now...

Bike cost 700 quid and hasn't run since it cartwheeled into the gravel at Silverstone 4 or 5 years ago (not my doing) so the idea is just to get it going.

I've straightened the subframe with a fence post and a blow torch without cracking or breaking off the cast bits on the main frame so all good there. Now just going through it to build it into a new track bike for me so emptying out the traditional half a bucket of gravel and checking bits and bobs for damage Sexy suspension now fitted front and back and its now back on its wheels.

The carbs I gave to a mate in a bike shop but that's temporarily shut now so will have to steal the one's off my road bike to see if I can get it started this weekend.

So I pull the cylinder head cover off for a much needed valve clearance check, and sure enough a few need reshimming. I remove the cams, to find one of the tappets damaged:

Looking at the bottom it's actually cracked. Not happy about this obviously, so I perform a leakdown test to find that cylinder has a 40% drop.

Yup, that'll be why. Both inlet valves on that cylinder are bent. Can't see any other damage, or any reason why that would be the case. Timing was fine when I checked. Does look like the cylinder head could have been off before though - all the retainers have paint marks on them, there's some writing on the outside of the heads. Inlet ports look like they've seen some work too.

Valve clearance check has now become a slightly more expensive job...

Well that's the covid project complete, not sure what to do now!

1991 Honda Vision, picked up a couple of days prior to lockdown

Found pictures online of Senna and Mansell using them as pit bikes so decided to do a replica

Suppose I'll use it for a little while to pop to the shops and back on but after lockdown I'll flog it as 30mph in rural areas isn't much fun! hehe
