Ouch! Should save a fair bit of rotational mass though
The Ti rod bolts used in Ducati race spec and R spec motors are basically a one shot item. They are a stretch type bolt and you might be able to reuse them once but that's your lot.
And yep, they are significantly lighter and stronger than a steel item and when you consider the mass of a single rod and 600cc piston rotating at 12k..... massive compared with the equivalent piston and rod in a 1000 IL4.
The forces at play are scary which is why cases can't take elevated rpm as the mains oval the aluminium out and your crank begins running around in the cases. You can guess what happens next!! biggrin

Yeah I think I’d rather spend the money on new bolts than 10x that on a new engine!

Superstock spec BMW but with better brakes. So kit ecu and loom, motec dash, Brembo GP4RX plus T drive discs, Ohlins gas fork internals and TTX shock, full titanium akrapovic exhaust, then pretty much everything else is Alpha Racing. Then some fancy paint to look like this!

A very good friend has moved from a top spec Gen 2 with the BMW calibration kit to the new G3 and reckons it's night and day.

Enjoy!

Minus a car again and had to be in Lymington for 10am this morning, south of Oxford it pissed down constantly and did for much of the way home as well...

Never been so miserable to be in the New Forrest, that said, I was glad I took the BM as I nearly took the Mrs CBR but the heated grips and cruise where a real bonus.

Been some years ive had dye from my gloves stain my hands!

Bought some new textile trousers to replace my old ones, same trousers/brand but the old ones never leaked, the new ones did!

Because of lockdown I hadnt managed to replace my textile jacket but had bought some Nikwax spray for it...that didnt worth either, was totally drenched when I arrived, right down to my pants...Ultimateaddons case did the job thou and kept my phone dry at least...Givi topbox kept all my paperwork dry as well...

Out on Netflix just now. 90s bikes, ste acting and loose women. If this isn't a perfect film to watch at four in the morning with a beer I dunno what is. It's fking terrible so bad it's epic.

Thanks for posting this.
I remember watching back in the day, and probably still have the early DVD or video somewhere!

You can even spot the 'crosser' suspension when they do that flying round the forest on a super bike crap.

Was a great movie back in the day! I'll make sure to watch it again as there are really not enough biking movies out at the moment.

Finally ran the 1290r in today, windy but dry, ready for its 1st service next Saturday, happy days. Ktm still has a massive software update problem that's not available for this bike due to blue tooth licencing issues, shame as I've been looking forward to trying out the sat nav function which is unavailable.
