That Brough looks like a puffs hanky

Why the need for everything to look over engineered?

I saw loads of people cooing over the Brough last year, I passed and headed straight for the sick bucket

I agree, I think it looks horrible, too long. I'm sure there's some nice engineering gone in to it but that doesn't make it pretty!

I agree, leaves me completely cold, unlike the V4 Panigale I was drooling over at the Ducati dealer yesterday.

It has to be that long so the owners can carry their vintage bassoons strapped to the side.

Just to buck the trend, I like the Brough visually ... and think the Panigale is a load of uncomfortable looking plastic. Just IMO.

That's because there is 88° between the cylinders, rather than the traditional 45-55°. It just looks wrong.

First ride of a big bike since late October. 14T front sprocket and cold air meant some epic 3rd to 5th gear wheelies. It's good to be back out!

It’s different. Most of the parts are cnc’d or extruded. Not just mass manufactured cast bits like on every other bike. Every new Jap bike just seems to the next version of Bosch electronics with another 5-10hp increase for the electronics to neuter. The Brough is bespoke, and it’s great to give the owner the choice. Some really nice details on the bike too.

I’m itching to head south for some open roads

Nice, can't see me getting out for a few more weeks, all the roads are still covered in salt and minus temperatures for most of this week passed.

No 6th gear on Ducatis?

Haha - 10 degrees and almost salt free, so with new chain and sprocket I thought what the hell.

Can you get into sixth? I'm more concerned about the shimmying that seems to start/stop/start at around 135 to worry about getting beyond 5th biggrin ! The Blade is better at high speed wheelies.

I can/could before I got really old, I'm a bit cautious now.

Paul25 off here colocked me once at around 150 but the bike starts to get a bit of sideways weave and if you're too high its more dangerous. (i think it is)

Easiest way to get high speed wheelies is 15 psi in your back tyre, try it if you already haven't.

Or, gearing up (Back) or down (front)

My record is 158 indicated on the Blade, although I was rev limiter in 3rd many times in portugal on it, which was about 144 on GPS, loaded up with luggage. 4th gear on Blade gives reliable 150mph wheelies, but it gets a bit dicey after that.

Cross winds are a killer, but main issue I find in 5th gear is any kind of slightly excessive roll off to manage height means not enough guts to bring the wheelie back up. Weaves or shimmies are scariest but generally I find it useful to land the wheelie a bit harder than normal at the big speeds so that the front wheel tucks/locks for less time whilst getting up to speed.

Only bikes I've got into top gear on rear are enduro bikes. In the end I could rev limiter in top the DRZ400, which felt like winning the game. smile

I've not tried the low tyre pressure trick, but guess it stops the shimmying!
